in politics its called "opposition research" and has probably been going on for years now. All Politicians do it. The search for dirty secrets for votes is itself not much of a secret.

Trump should just have pulled an Obama and told the FBI to work with the RNC to create a narrative for a fabricated story to derail Biden's campaign. And THEN use it as an excuse to wiretap the campaign.

Instead, the FBI spends more time investigating Bubba Wallace's garage door pull than the Biden crime family.

The obvious question is why. Is there evidence to suggest that he is a threat to national security? If it's just for curiosity or hoping to find something, then no. If there is credible evidence of wrong-doing, then yes.
