Former Rep. Duncan Hunter, who was convicted of misusing campaign funds, will serve his 11-month federal prison sentence at Federal Correctional Institute La Tuna in Anthony, Texas, according to his attorney Devin Burstein.
The California Republican will report to the federal prison’s adjacent minimum-security satellite camp on Jan. 4, 2021.
The Duncan Hunter prosecution was important. My older relatives in La Jolla and Carlsbad said their friends started drifting from the GOP when this scandal broke. To be sure, it is still a heavily GOP district, but these movements matter 10 years down the road.
The GOP is notorious for doing this, ripping off the gullible rubes who send them money. My own Congressman did this before he resigned. Of course, Hunter will likely be staying in a 4 star prison.
While I think an 11 month prison sentence for a non violent crime is a bit harsh, I am ok with a conviction.
I am ok with ANY politician whom abuses the public funds and trust paying the price for their abuses. Both parties need to wake up and realize the corrupt behavior has to stop.
Sadly, the higher they go, the less they have to face the music.

Good...Next...I think if we found all of them that have engaged in insider trading, committed fraud or mismanaged funds we would have no Congress left. And I am ok with that.
This is the guy who used election funds to fly the family's pet rabbit across the country. Oh, and to keep a few mistresses happy.
Well a few months in minimum-security satellite camp ought to make up for it.
