Most Latin Americans fled here from right wing regimes.

And again, Bolivians are the tiniest Latin American immigrant group in this country. They DO NOT wish to come here. They have already endured centuries of bad governance and terrible repression, and yet few Bolivians have ever attempted to come here.

So please...knock it off. Their government is none of your business. 99% of Americans can’t even find Bolivia on a map.

Now let’s see if the United States accepts the result and stops trying to govern the people of South America. We have enough issues of our own to deal with. The Cold War is over. We have no business traipsing around Latin America and forcing right wing dictatorships on poor people in order to protect United State’s corporate interests. That’s spending American tax money to support crony capitalism abroad.

If the Bolivian people want socialism, that’s none of our concern.

I'm ambivalent about this. The "right-wing" party in Bolivia would be cookie-cutter moderate Democrats here - they are for education, science, disruption, forward thinking, and tend to be young/urban. The socialists there are closer in spirit to the MAGA crowd - dislike change, just want to work low-skill jobs for life, and distrust education/science/academics/foreigners.

This election is going to mean Bolivia reminds this dirt poor country with mostly old industries and little innovation. But it's what the people wants.

.

Patriotic Dissent is right, the U.S government has been meddling in other countries' elections for decades but when someone returns the 'favor' they all get bent out of shape, it's all about that feeling of "I can do it but don't you dare do it to me"....but then again, I'm sure lots of other governments do it too or wish they could meddle in other countries' affairs.Yeah, people just love to meddle in other people's business whether it's on a personal level or applied to countries/geopolitics.

You might be happy about it but I bet most of the residents aren't.

Bolivian daily life is largely dependent on social class, economic status, and place of residence.

The level of poverty in Bolivia is one of the highest in the continent. The country suffers from stark differences in living conditions between the higher and lower incomes of the population who live in slum housing that lack the most essential facilities.

That’s much of Latin America in a nutshell. Stark inequalities are baked into the cake and nothing short of revolutionary thinking can reverse it.

Bolivia has managed to cut poverty by 20% by using the nation’s resources to enrich the nation at large and not just a few elite families.

What’s terrible about it?

People voted in a free election. Nothing dispositive about that.

It’s nothing to you regardless. That’s why your country should mind its own business.

Who are you asking?

I think most of us already have a country of our own. At least I do. Sorry if you don’t.

Morales tried to pull an FDR and get a 4th term, and considering that Bolivia’s 2009 Constitution limited presidents to 2 terms he had already overstayed his time. Morales did a lot of good for Bolivia, especially in terms of lifting large portions of the people out of extreme poverty, but his time was over. We were spared this type of crisis by Roosevelt dying, but that wouldn’t naturally happen with Morales as he is in I believe his early 60’s and appears to be in good health.

Hopefully the new guy will keep Bolivia stable. And, yes, as long as this is what the people want and they are not causing issues with their neighbors, the US absolutely should keep their grubby hands away.

I agree!
It's not our problem.
