For four years, they have nonstop crushed the guy, and their efforts seem to be bearing fruit. Reagan had it bad, Dubyah had it worse, but nobody has ever taken media beatings like Trump. Not one elected official in US history, ever.

That's an objective fact.

Sure, one cable network, a couple of newspapers and a portion of the blogosphere stick up for him, but by about 95% majority, the media crushes him 24/7/365, and started 1 minute after the completion of his inauguration speech (WaPo online publishing of the first "case for impeachment" article was literally timestamped 1 minute after the end of his inauguration).

And he never backed down, which created a vicious cycle of both him and the media ramping up their absurdity. I don't honestly know who played who in this four year nightmare, but the whole country got scorched earth results from it. And our "consolation prize" is the prototype establishmentarian who will rubber stamp a 4 year Democrat revenge tour that aims to destroy any remaining shred of federalism and participation.

The credibility of and belief in the media-political complex was under threat by someone in power who was immune to shame and already wealthy. They couldn't scare him off, so they set about destroying everything around him while screeching constantly how all that destruction was his fault. And more than half the gullible morons of this nation who get all their thoughts and reality from the voices inside the magic box on the wall/desk actually buy it.

But go ahead and think getting rid of Trump cures the disease. It's myopic naivete taken to new and astonishing levels, but if it helps you forget that no less than half a dozen endemic problems that are runaway freight trains dooming this nation will continue hurtling towards the virtually guaranteed national catastrophe, well, good for you. Ignorance truly is bliss.

Not that reelecting the man helps with that either, but a 77 year old lifetime puppet of oligarchy sure as hell won't help solve a freaking thing that matters to the average American.
Post of the month? Day? Hell year? Bravo sir.

Your premise is just plain wrong.

There were many elections where double digit gaps did not exist. Perhaps, like Joe Hiden, you suffer some form of dementia and cannot remember.
