I used to have a lender client who did a ton of business in Watts & Compton here in Los Angeles. I used to be down there all the time doing home appraisals. The homeowners I met were as nice as pie. I did have a few funny run-ins with the locals from time to time. "Hey Whitey, you lost?" was a common one. The funniest one was in the winter when it gets dark early. I was done for the day and headed to the freeway when I suddenly get lit up by the LAPD. The officer came to my car window and with a look of amazement said, " DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE ?" I just laughed and explained what I was doing. They insisted on escorting me to the freeway. I always had the feeling that I was helping the local homeowners by facilitating their loan, so I was never afraid. Don't start nothin', won't be nothin'.

Hahaha....thanks for the laugh. I moved out of L.A. last year. Moved to a small town in the Midwest. Went to the market and was surprised to see people leaving their cars running during the summer with their ac on. No one in the car. The same during the winter leaving their heaters running. I told my wife, “look at that, they leave their cars running and go into the store. Good luck with that in L.A.
People don’t lock their homes, cars, bikes. Took me a while to get used to that.
Walked into a minimart to pay for gas the attendant told me to go pump the gas first, then come back and pay. What???!!! Hahaha.... imagine that in L.A.

I'm in black areas of Boston all the time, all I meet are nice people. Of course some of the younger dudes I've encountered seemed to have a bit of a chip on their shoulders. But they are far more dangerous to each other than they are to my white arse.
Look at the FBI statistics. You say there is no argument that blacks disproportionally commit more crimes? Please pass me whatever you are smoking. The fact is blacks commit more crimes in relation to their population size than any other demographic in the United States. It is not even close!

Luck had nothing to do with it. We were just a bunch of hard working folks who happened to live in close proximity to each other. Everyone got the respect they deserved, regardless of skin color. We all looked out for each other - everything from helping to shovel snow off of each other's driveways to watching for suspicious people lurking around each other's houses. I regularly helped the neighborhood children fix their dirt bikes. In other words, we treated each other like people. True story: A friend of mine who was a Sheriff's Deputy called me one day and wanted to stop by after work to pick something up from my house. I was running a little late that afternoon, so he got to my house before I did - in full uniform. When the people next door saw him knocking on my door, they approached him and asked what he was doing there. My friend was actually impressed that they were so protective of me. I guess he just assumed, like you, that because I am white and they are black, we naturally hated each other. My neighbors mentioned the incident later that night, saying a cop was hanging around my house, so they ran him off.
If you are white and venture into a black neighborhood, you will be a target. Blacks are far more racist against whites than the reverse, but that is changing thanks to BLM. My advice is to avoid predominantly black neighborhoods if you are white. The stats don't lie.

I am not sure where gentrification comes in play in his statement.
I lived in an all-Black neighborhood for 16 years. I was literally the only white person there the entire time, except for a period of a few months when some rednecks moved into the house across the street. This was a low income neighborhood and the main road (there were only 2 roads) was the only entrance into some notoriously high-crime Section 8 housing situated behind our neighborhood. I had zero problems the entire time I lived there. Best neighbors I've ever had. I was never targeted, nor did I ever encounter one shred of racism.
It's not about you. It's about a study that proved overwhelmingly where the problem is. Your one data point example is meaningless.
In 2019 there were almost 7,500 blacks murdered in the United States. However lets go crazy over a handful of unarmed blacks shot and killed by the police.. This is why I have zero respect for BLM. The fact is the only black lives that matter are ones that die from white cops. Otherwise all you hear is silence from these phonies!
