Not that it makes a difference when our founding fathers like Thomas Jefferson and George Washington owned hundreds of slaves themselves, slavery just wasn’t a big deal back then hence liberals don’t tear down said statues. Even we blacks owned slaves.
You would literally have to purge all of American history to remove the slave owners who are honored.

The Confederacy was willing to destroy the United States of America to protect race-based enslavement.

Where is the legal or moral justification?
They weren't trying to destroy the US. They were fine splitting ways. There was some territory in New Mexico they claimed but the rest stayed with the de-facto US government.
There were a select few who argued for more, but they had no real say in the confederate policy. They wanted a union separate from the union. Just like the founding fathers. They were also going to end slavery, but progressively.
