It's on the bucket list, as soon as they figure out how to do it.

America is getting a new make over and it's going to be one hell of ride. What people are losing sight of ...

Thomas Jefferson on Politics & Government

The Sovereignty of the People

He's on the list too, so people will learn to own nothing and be happy, as they will have no reference to any other way of life.

And I firmly believe that is why we have two versions of American History ... When the Taliban destroy their history relics and book memorabilia, it's called terrorism, when we do it, it's called freedom. May be one day, I'll get that, but not today.
Yikes, so the liberal extremists are coming after Mount Rushmore, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington now. Wow.

This discussion isn’t about Africa. It’s about what happened here.

You’re just as fortunate as i am to be born here. Stop trying to elicit gratitude from me.

White people are generally born in developed countries.

We blacks are much more fortunate to have been born here, making slavery a necessary evil that no rational African American would ever erase.

Maybe you don’t like existing, but I do, so I’m not going to wish “slavery never happened.”

Did you even read the piece? It's entitled:

What Will Happen to Stone Mountain, America’s Largest Confederate Memorial?

The Georgia landmark is a testament to the enduring legacy of white supremacy

Quote:
After Walter Kirkland Hancock was chosen to lead the sculpting efforts, work resumed in 1964 after a nearly-40-year hiatus.

The dedication ceremony was held May 9, 1970, and the memorial was finally completed in 1972, with fine enough detail that the eyebrows and belt buckles were visible, the sculpture large enough that a grown man could stand inside one of the three horse’s mouths.

The memorial became the largest high relief sculpture in the world, depicting Davis, Lee and Jackson on horseback, their figures stretched across three acres.
Do you actually believe that Robert E. Lee, Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson & President of the Confederacy Jefferson Davis were founders of the United States of America?

Aren't you & your "people losing sight" of the original plan to fetishize the Lost Cause, along with the KKK?

Quote:
But the overlap between the memorial and the Klan didn’t end with their geographical origins. At one point, Borglum considered including the KKK in his monument at the prompting of Plane, who wrote:

Quote:
“The Birth of a Nation will give us a percentage of next Monday’s matinee. Since seeing this wonderful and beautiful picture of Reconstruction in the South, I feel that it is due to the Ku Klux Klan which saved us from Negro domination and carpet-bag rule, that it be immortalized on Stone Mountain. Why not represent a small group of them in their nightly uniform approaching in the distance?”

Not that it makes a difference when our founding fathers like Thomas Jefferson and George Washington owned hundreds of slaves themselves, slavery just wasn’t a big deal back then hence liberals don’t tear down said statues. Even we blacks owned slaves.

You would literally have to purge all of American history to remove the slave owners who are honored.
Are you actually conflating the founders of the Confederate States of America with the founders of the United States of America?

This is beyond the pale.

Georges Santayana is likely best remembered for:

Significantly, Mr. Santayana also noted:

How can "statues be tools" when primary sources are not remembered, or denied?

Besides that, how can one learn from mistakes, when one is hellbent on denying any were made?

They weren't trying to destroy the US. They were fine splitting ways. There was some territory in New Mexico they claimed but the rest stayed with the de-facto US government.

There were a select few who argued for more, but they had no real say in the confederate policy. They wanted a union separate from the union. Just like the founding fathers. They were also going to end slavery, but progressively.
