So The lesson is you can’t stop all infections and deaths unless you have permanent lockdowns. Is that what you want?

Yet the death rate is still falling due to more people being tested.

They said the same thing in my state. Supposedly there was a backlog of cases which weren't reported, so when there was a huge spike this month, it was actually due to cases as far back as May being counted now. In other words for Germany and France, this is just a test to see what other freedoms they could take away.

Paraphrasing what someone said the other day; "Biden is going put rules in place to eliminate Covid"

Right now, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and a bunch of other countries are doing quite well.

The EU countries had some problems with segments of their populations throwing temper tantrums and refusing to follow instructions.

At lease most them got it down to levels the US was never able to. We are spiking cases way too early, and six digit numbers will come with in a month (ETA), unless we do something significant.

The first part of the year looks like it was the warm-up, now the pandemic will get to shine. Plenty of areas are going into overflow facilities for their hospitals, transferring patients hundreds of miles away, etc.

This really has been one of America's worst performances.
It only takes one person to reinfect the entire world. And as social creatures we are, theres no stopping or mitigating this very highly contagious virus no matter what masks you wear or extreme long term lockdowns.

5 billion years of nature always finds a way. This virus is part of our lives. What people don’t want to accept is that yes people will die, and one day your day is coming, be it Covid or not.

Personally, I don’t want to be living in fear. Y’all go ahead and stay home forever because this virus will always be around.

30% of Swedes were working from home when Covid hit. Any business that could, quickly went virtual, as Covid hit. Ski resorts were closed. Indoor dining and drinking were restricted. They were really slow on protecting elderly in skilled nursing facilities. Eventually, they banned visitors but did not make a connection between PPE and preventing spread between employees and their elderly guests.

Sweden’s outcomes were not as good as the rest of Scandinavia.

Covid is once again surging in Sweden. Once their hospitals reach capacity, then will act. They can probably achieve their goals with a velvet hammer.

Other countries like Belgium and Italy and the Uk are following suit

But I was told Europe “vanquished” the virus by listening to science and complying to restrictions and the only reason it was still going on in America is because of mask hating Trump supporters?

Lockdowns dont work

And lol at "western democracies lack the authority..." have you follwed the draconian responses in Australia, NZ putting people in quarantine camps, the UK has stated it will break up and arrest Christmas party attendees ...
Western democracies have instituted some of the worst policies.
Where are their troops now to defend those western freedoms? Getting ready to enforce lockdowns on their own.
You know what's funny is that New Zealand is about 100% back to normal without any hot spots for Covid-19.

It would be nice to be back to normal by now.

Lockdowns do work - temporarily, until people get let out of the cage, try and make up for being stuck inside for weeks or months, get complacent, and forget about covid. That's what happened all across Europe. They had a 'going away party' for the pandemic in Prague for christ sakes. It's a solution to bring the numbers, and hospital occupancies down in the short term, but not a permanent solution.

Covid is not surging in Sweden compared to the rest of Europe.

So your idea of a "return to normal" is to set up internment camps and force folks with Covid into them?
