I'm a regular listener of Rush Limbaugh.
Back during the election of 2008, he encouraged his audience to jump primaries and vote democrat, and vote for Obama instead of Hillary Clinton. Limbaugh believed Clinton would have a better chance of defeating McCain, and that Obama wouldn't have a chance of defeating him, so he told all his audience to vote for Obama in the primary. They did. Obama won, and went on to defeat McCain. My guess is, Hillary Clinton would have lost to McCain. Just a guess.
Then. This clown Trump was in the running for the Republican Primary in 2016, and everyone laughed him off. No one was seriously considering this oaf as a presidential candidate. Until Rush Limbaugh championed him, made excuses for his horrific gaffes, claimed he was a real American. And then, there were enough American voters ready to vote for him. Not the majority of American voters, of course, but enough to squeeze through using the Electoral College advantage of rural areas versus more people.
And that's why Rush Limbaugh was given the honor of the Medal of Freedom by Trump. Because without him, Trump wouldn't be president.

Trump was a serious candidate as soon as he participated in the first republican debate with the other do-nothing politicians - guys like Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz (I do like Ted), and the rest of them.
Trump played the anti politician role to perfection. Then he did it a couple of more times, beat his competition, and then beat Hillary badly in their debates. And then he squeaked by in the electoral college.

No he wasn't. Trump wasn't a serious candidate before Limbaugh started saying, well, now wait a minute, people, this guy's got potential.
Limbaugh urged his listeners to vote for Hillary Clinton (not Obama) as a part of Operation Chaos: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ru...peration_Chaos I think as a way to help prolong the Democrat Primary and weaken the Democrats overall.
