Andrew Jackson was absolutely horrible to John Quincy Adams.

I think this is the most interesting historical contre temps.

The Adams-Jefferson feud is legendary, but these are some additional facets to their animosity.

But to answer my own question, the problem is absolutely not Trump.

Trump is one man. There's 330,000,000 individuals in this country who are responsible for their own actions. I do believe that Trump with his fat yack spews out words that are most definitely divisive. If it's true, then what does that say about the American public?

We are the problem. We voted him in. We go out and riot. We go out and do stupid things.

Look in the mirror and stop pointing the finger at either one man (Trump) or others for your lot in life. It's YOU who are the problem, not the POTUS or government. We are the idiots that don't work together because we believe in different things and we always feel we're right and not the person next to you. We're divisive on our own. One mans words doesn't make it that way.
would you characterize Pelosi claiming ACB was "illegitimate" as divisive?

would you characterize "the left" criticizing Trump for not denouncing white supremacy, when clearly he has, divisive?

Trump does/has said some divisive things - like separating red vs blue cities/states. Of course, those same states/cities also are complicit in creating the division based upon their reactions in the first place.

You don't hear Trump criticizing Newsome/CA like he does OR, NY, etc ... because Newsome hasn't been criticizing him at every turn.

All you can do is control yourself, your attitude and your dialogue. Words like "fat yack spews" - part of the solution, or part of the problem?

The problem is when divisive words come from the president himself while in office. I do not believe any prior POTUS has come even close to the way Trump is with his "fat yack". Yet what did I say? That still isn't the problem. It has been and always will be the publics reactions that is the problem to what they hear from government and now the POTUS. We have the ultimate choice in how to handle things, and apparently we don't do a good job at it.

What's wrong with the country is mostly the deep state and the elite top 1% of 1% who want to control everyone and dictate how everybody else should live while no laws or rules apply to them. Trump was not on the side of the deep state which is why they hated him. He's not a prince or a saint, but closer to being on the side of the people than anybody else in DC.
Biden is a useful stooge swiftly in mental decline, Harris is a souless sell out. The Deep State will be emboldened having these two flunky's to make dance for them like organ grinder's monkeys.
Trump at least had a personality and wasn't afraid to speak his mind. Biden has nothing to say, he has no mind and will be a mindless piece of furniture moved around to suit their needs. If Harris takes over, expect her to sell out her base and let the feds run amok taking down anybody who doesn't bow and grovel to the DC politicos and the uber rich.
A long dark winter under Joe Biden, that's what he promised.

The deep state IS the 1%. Who else do you think is funding all the legislation to go their way? Its not partisan, it economic. So long as we are distracted by the politics of it all and continue to be at each others thoats, which we are buying into 101% right now, it will continue to go poorly for all of us.

After WW2 during the post war economic expansion, the creation of the middle class, and the far reaching growth of US power, the highest marginal tax rate on the highest earners was as high as 92%.

It was John F Kennedy in, a Democrat, who brought this rate down to the 70th percentile with the Revenue Act of 1964. It stayed at this level until 1981 when Ronald Reagan, a Republican, brought the highest nominal tax rate for the highest earners down to the 50% percentile with the Economic Tax Recovery Act. He later brought this down to 38% with the Tax Reform Act of 1986.

Its been constant de-regulation ever since with ever increasingly risky investments with companies deemed too large to fail, the failures of which have been shuffled off to the middle class to pay for while the top earners continue to be top earners with no accountability to their risky actions. Recall the Savings and Loan crisis of the 80s and then again in 90s because we weren't smart enough to learn the first time around? How about the tech dot com bubble popping? Lets not forget the sub-prime mortgage crisis of 2007 that led to the Great Recession?

Its not about the politics. Politics are simply a red herring. Its all about money and control.

Trump doesn't give a crap about anybody but Trump.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is detached from reality.

Well eventually COVID will be over. That would be sweet. I could be the only one (or one of the few) traveling internationally which means no long lines at the airport, cheap airline fights and no feeling like a sardine. The world would be my oyster.

I think racism is a problem in this country for sure. But even last night as votes were being counted it comes down to race it seems! Commentators saying the black male turnout wasnt good and that the cubans were the reason trump won FL. I could go on, but how are we not going to have a racism problem if we're constantly talking about race!?

The American people say they want change. But this election just proves again the people are voting into office the same clowns that create these messes.
