The Senate is here to "Consent". Nominate a Moderate and you might get them through.

No. Zero chance. The Supreme Court as it is now will be the Supreme Court for at least the next 4 years.

Good point! Maybe someone like, for instance, Merrick Garland!

Oh... wait....

I think they would let him replace Breyer, but not Thomas.

Not as a private citizen, particularly one on trial for corruption.

They should do their duty and put him up for a vote and then vote no.

That's it in a nutshell. There won't be any new SCOTUS appointments for at least 4 years, possibly 6 or 8.

It's looking like control of the Senate is going to depend on two run off elections in Georgia in January

Yeah he should just renominate Garland, a good moderate that McConnell has previously praised.

Not unless the Dems win the Senate.

I can just see Mitch saying, "Well, 4 years is not enough time to nominate a judge. What do you take us for? Cooperative? Never mind that the GOP did so when an election had already started. What's good for the GOP is good for the GOP. We're not hear to serve the American people. ha ha heh heh heh"
