There is a growing market for movies about kick-ass women. Furiosa comes to mind. 'Fury Road' was a blockbuster.

I don't find it surprising at all that a movie producer might try to work such a woman into the James Bond franchise. Why not?
Because, as stated, a kick ass woman must eventually lose to Bond. Anya was perhaps the closest, maybe Jynx, but either way, Bond wins. Bond is the one who rescues them. Bond is the one who finishes the primary villain. Not Anya, not P. Galore, not Jynx, but Bond.

It would be interesting to know how that was received in Thunderball (and in Waxwork for that matter), when it was not the case. But, is that another equation where it is acceptable for the woman to do such because the villain tortured her? Will we start needing to have torture scenes in the flicks, all the flicks? Beefcake bondage is one thing but female torture is another.....and may not fit into the PC realm of now.

It's not just about the woman being equal but that she must win, repeatedly. Otherwise, the equation is still the same.....but can the male in the audience accept a new equation?

Must she? Why can't she become a partner? Or a respected enemy (to be continued next movie)?

The person who turned me on to 'Red' is as male as they come. He loved it.

Box office. All about box office.

NTTD will do well as Craig’s swan song.

But Nomi, 007? Will wait for streaming.

Bingo. It has nothing to do with sexism or racism. The character was iconic and widely popular for a reason. Same for Wonder Woman, wouldn’t want some male playing the role of a white guy playing Shaft.

Why not indeed? (I take it you mean Red Grant; if another, please say the movie; I stopped watching the Franchise at Casino Royale for reasons previously listed)

But movies show us otherwise. Anya was the closest but eventually, she decided her dead lover was not worthy of revenge and she ended up in bed with 007.

In all the decades of Bond, does anyone ever, in the end, win other than he?

As far as respect for the enemy, that is another interesting item about the movies much of the time. There are more times when the villain will refer to him as Mr. Bond (mostly) or Bond (rarely) or by number and less times when he will drop the title and just refer to them by last name. It seems to be part of his character to deny the respect that so many offer him.

Now, of course, part of the lack of respect is as 007 put it in The Man With the Golden Gun....."When I kill, it is on the explicit orders of my government and those I kill are killers themselves.". He has no reason to respect them.....and rightfully so.

Bond as a politically correct figure is not Bond.

She won’t be James Bond. No one tied to the production ever claimed she would be “Bond,” they claimed that she will be 007. She’ll play a character who carries the agent designation 007 after Bond’s retirement between the events of Spectre and before this movie. The plot will involve Bond’s happy (?) retirement life and relationship with whats-her-face (White’s daughter, another bland character from a bland movie that was full of them) being ruined and subsequently returning to HMSS to find his former agent serial number being used by an initially antagonistic rival agent.

There’s a high probability that she’s a one-shot character (as rolling her over to the next installment, ostensibly when a new actor takes over the ACTUAL role of Bond, would both draw the publicity away from the new casting and draw criticism from the woke about her being pushed out of being 007), a decent possibility that she dies in the movie (I’d say it would be a certainty but for the criticism it would draw), and a passing chance that she ends up being villainous in some way (probably not, same warning applies).

I need to go to woke school or something.
Yup. Scarlett Johansson got trashed for Ghost in the Shell because she isn’t asian. I guess we have to ask what’s ok and what we should be offended about.

Certainly I don't have issues with female or black actresses, but why do they have to keep doing these annoying things where they mess around with the original source material? I have zero desire to see a female actress as James Bond 007.

And 'revolutionary?' Right.
