Exactly right, which is why I dismiss cries for redistricting reform as they are almost always made at the expense of the GOP and to the benefit of Democrats.
Case in point: Maryland and Illinois have redistricted the GOP to hell, yet you'll only hear Democrats and the media crying about redistricting in Republican states.
Heck, Virginia Democrats were all for redistricting reforms when they were fighting gerrymandered districts to get into the state legislative majority. They ran on proposing a constitutional amendment, almost to immediately walk back talk of putting such an amendment on the ballot once they did seize the majority. At the end of the day, only a handful of Democrats in the Virginia House of Delegates supported placing the amendment on the ballot. And, if not for strong GOP support, the issue would have never been placed on the ballot and ultimately passed by voters.

So, again, the conversation many have on redistricting reform isn't truly about reform, but reform only in a manner that helps Democrats at the expense of Republicans.
