Its a famous question that comes up usually at the Presidential debates. The two times post WW2 that the majority of Americans said no, the sitting President lost (Carter and Bush 1).
So are you better off than you were four years ago?
Lets see 4 years ago we didn't have a pandemic that killed 140k Americans 3 million infected. The economy wasn't in shambles i'd say we had it good before the Mango Mussolini took over.

No better, no worse. Gas prices are lower, credit score is going up, other than that I haven't noticed a difference because I am in college and therefore don't really notice much as far as taxes and things like that. My grandmother and parents are better off that's for sure.
I didn't have to worry about dying pr having family members die by working for a living. I didn't have a president threatening my job by cutting education if schools don't reopen. So I have to vote no. I might make more money, but I may have huge healthcare bills to pay off if I do get the virus at work. But where I live prices for things including gas are slightly up as well.

Absolutely no reason for schools to get their entire budget from federal government if schools won't be open.
At least 160,000 USA people have died in 4 years from the influenza A & B. I have only had it once, and not this year, and I am still alive. I am, however 4 years older. Better off? Hard to say, but I will go with yes.

What does that have to do with the topic? Does school funding calculations have any influence on you being better off than you were 4 years ago?
Also what schools get their entire funding from the federal budget anyway? Isn't it state and locally funded for the most part?
I guess I should add my take on this. Financially I would say I am doing better than 4 years ago. I have businesses that are not affected by the pandemic and actually have done better with the economy going down.
As far as my health, family and well being. Not better. I have relatives that are very high risk that are quite scared by the virus. I know a lot of small business and gig type people who are hurting financially. And there is just so much uncertainty in the air. Not all of it was preventable but our country has done a horrible job with the virus. And I blame government officials from Trump on down for that.
