Binary solution. Don’t loot and you have nothing to worry about. If you do have so little respect for other human beings that you’re willing to loot, I’m okay with you not continuing your genetic line.

If your answer is anything along the lines of "allow yourself to be victimized and hope the police can make it right later", you need to be quiet and let the grown-ups talk.

No one should EVER be expected to allow themselves to be victimized like that.
Ever hear of insurance?

Leave the policing to the police. Leave the judging to the juries and the punishments to the judges. THAT is the grown-up reaction.

Leave protecting oneself and one's property to the individual first, as it should be. The natural right of every person, every living creature, to defend themselves against aggression.

It's like the 'wild, wild West' i.e. 'It's like déjà vu all over again.'

“It allows for vigilantes to justify their actions,” said Denise Georges, a former Miami-Dade County prosecutor who had handled Stand Your Ground cases.

Rand Paul? Are you sure you got the right guy? He's a 'property rights' fanatic aka libertarian qua Republican.

Per the article in the OP:

"Gov. Ron DeSantis has drafted “anti-mob” legislation that would expand Florida’s Stand Your Ground law — a move that critics say will allow armed citizens to shoot suspected looters or anyone engaged in “criminal mischief” that disrupts a business."

Hey, let me give everyone a tip, don't want to get shot, don't commit crimes. It is just so simple. Looters breaking out your windows, well, I don't see why anyone would have an issue, because these are violent people who are threatening your life. No expansion even needed there. After a few get shot, it may discourage others.

Criminal Mischief:

(1)(a) A person commits the offense of criminal mischief if he or she willfully and maliciously injures or damages by any means any real or personal property belonging to another, including, but not limited to, the placement of graffiti thereon or other acts of vandalism thereto.
Seems very reasonable to me.

I have no problem with a business owner protecting their property as long as he/she doesn't shoot an innocent person in the process.
