Probably not, because Gore didn't make a fool of himself and claim victory.
Neither Bush nor Gore had enough votes to claim victory until Florida was counted, and so, of course, neither did.

If only Michigan were in the balance, OR if only Pennsylvania were in the balance, OR if any combination of anything at all hopeful for Trump to win the election were in the balance, we'd all get it. We'd ALL understand a wait and see approach.
If Trump needed a couple hundred votes in PA and that would be that, he'd win the presidency, we'd all understand, of course.
Additionally, Trump continues to embarrass us all by not only saying "let's wait and see" like Gore did, but rather, claim victory by landslide.
