Maybe the thought police should be worrying more about the murders that have happened there the past few years instead of trying to rename it. Priorities.
So there should be no fort named after Gen. George Thomas of Virginia?
General Thomas was a loyal American fighting for the US. Virginia is today in the US and when General Thomas was born in Virginia it was in the US. Virginia stayed in the US in part because of General Thomas.
I don't see the comparison to Hood who took an oath to the US and then broke it to fight the US army.
benavidez. Read his MOH citation and find anyone more worthy of having a fort named after them. I dare you.
Dude!!! TOTAL BADASS!!

I can walk and chew gum at the same time. I hope you can too.
Benavidez is a real live war hero. Hood helped lead a faction of rebels into a war that killed more than a half million Americans AFTER taking an oath to serve the nation that he turned against. And for what? Because he wanted his new nation to be able to freely subjugate African Americans in perpetuity.
That’s pretty cut and dried. No sense in making it more complicated than that.
