I just dont what his purpose is to be honest. At least now. He isn't creating vaccines. He isn't "curing" anything. He's specifying to the public the protocols they have to follow and most don't follow them
Yes, he's not popular with the Trump loyalists, having become a political scapegoat. But he still seems to be widely respected among the rest of the public, and there is little reason to doubt his expertise.

All Ivy league law graduates except Reagan. Fauci also graduated from an Ivy League school. Doesn't seem like too big of a deal.
