The news media needs to persuade people into aggressive China and Australia style mitigation until they rush for their vaccine immediately after it comes out.
I remember a Democratic mayor in the Summer who talked down COVID-19 when she said she compared it to seasonal hay fever. When they say things like this it doesn't drum up support for measures that need to be taken until a vaccine is available to all and the media should be persuading as many people to take that vaccine by documenting certain COVID-19 experiences.
The news anchor seems smart enough so I wonder why she would say for her "Compared to a seasonal flu it is less". Sadly, tens of thousands of people listening to her say that are going go into public, go to church, not socially distance because of she said.
I am puzzled why she would say something like that. The news anchor seems very young, was likely in perfect health and yet she seems to have several breathing episodes during the course of a short interview.
The news media needs to present a different narrative so drum up support for a stay at home order.
For instance, a son is without his very young parents because of COVID-19. When the news media talks about that it is a wonderful thing because then the public will be more supportive of Chinese and Australia level measures to keep COVID-19 cases from overwhelming the hospital before people will be getting their COVID-19 vaccine.
Seems like a professional news person, so it's sad how she says things like for her "Compared to a seasonal flu it is less" as she seems to be labored breathing during an interview on her recovery from Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
Statistically COVID-19 is worse than the flu; it has a much death rate and can cause long-term health issues. She is a single data point, and not representative of all cases.
