Well what has actually happened is that Democrats asked people to move to Georgia temporarily and vote in the election. Its on their senate election facebook page. They are offering their homes for temporary residences.

Many including Andrew Yang have said they are temporarily moving, but he has said he is not going to vote.

Abe Fortas was an associate justice, what on earth are you talking about?

And Merrick Garland's nomination was not withdrawn so again, what on earth are you talking about.

You are the one trafficking lies, just like you are about the supposed Democrats on facebook telling people to move to Georgia to vote that you keep saying you see without bothering to provide any actual proof- and even if you did, it's some rando on facebook. Or is the entire Trump party responsible for every piece of nonsense spouted by Qanon conspiracy freaks?

Look it up. Maybe you would learn. He was nominated for Chief Justice. Another person was nominated for his seat. The senate refused to consider Abe Fortas and so the other guy got no vote either.

Really, you should try to learn what you are talking about before posting.

If they follow the GA laws then by all means do it...it's so important that Ossoff and Warnock win these seats so McConnell can't obstruct every good thing Biden tries to accomplish like he did w/ Obama.

Fortas' nomination was taken up by the Senate, he got a full committee hearing and was voted out of committee. However, his nomination was filibustered during debate before the full senate and though he had a bare majority of senators supporting him, 2/3 cloture to end debate was never reached (as per the rules at the time) therefore his approval failed. Opposition against him was fairly bipartisan and was a measure of the disappearing political capital of LBJ at that point of his presidency. That, and Fortas was probably corrupt. He resigned from the Supreme Court relatively soon afterwards due to yet another scandal over $.

The person who would presumably have been nominated to fill Fortas' spot was never actually nominated, since there was never a vacancy in his position, so there was nothing for the Senate to act on, so that is irrelevant vis a vis the M. Garland situation - which was an absolute disgrace to the comity between the branches.

History. It's what's for dinner.

except that as Alaska FLyer explained, that is not exactly what happened, it was a lot more complex than that.

So I'm good, but still sure that you are not a reliable source of factual information, thanks.

meanwhile, still waiting for those links from Facebook you claim to keep seeing......

There's plenty of us republicans in neighboring states that could do this much easier.
