That's what they said before the 2nd wave hit, and we were clocking 10 000 new case per day for a long time, and now we have buried 18 000 Floridians. Now DeSantis promises to do nothing, and people like you think its a great idea.

Ditto. I think DeSantis is probably the best United States governor presently in office.

Is it why he waited for Trump to approve everything he wanted to do, or because he forbids mayors from doing what they think is best to protect their citizens?

DeSantis has banned mask mandates in cities and allowed bars to reopen with 50% capacity back in September, Florida is up to 10,000 new cases a day with a 7% positivity rate so no that is not a good job. He doesn't follow the CDC guidelines or health experts, I guess he knows better. Between the Thanksgiving crowds and the snowbirds heading south I expect the rate to trend upward, will be react.

^^ What you have here are the deaths. That has to do with the quality of healthcare and includes the hospital capacity. However when using your same source for the 14-day cumulative number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000.

Bars should be at 100%. That's my only disagreement with him.

The CDC has one job and one job only - suggesting for ways to stop this virus and predicting its current trajectory. And we're free to ignore them if the only measures we have, like shutting down bars, outweighs the costs of this joke of a virus.

DeSantis did not ban mask mandates, he suspended fines and penalties. Municipalities and businesses are permitted to impose mask restrictions as they see fit. People are free to wear masks if they choose. You are also free to avoid bars.

And there are 49 other states for you to choose from.

That is not true, cities and counties are forbidden from imposing mask mandates.

As the holidays approach — and threaten to worsen a nationwide coronavirus surge — the mayors of five Florida cities and municipalities met Wednesday to request that Gov. Ron DeSantis impose a statewide mask mandate, ramp up the state’s testing effort and reinstate the authority of local governments to impose coronavirus restrictions as needed.
