Since it is already considered the great democracy in the world. While the U.S? #25.

The Kingdom of Norway is located in Northern Europe, where it borders Sweden, Finland and Russia. In spite of its considerable large area, Norway has a population of only around 5.3 million inhabitants and is estimated to surpass the 5.5 million-mark by 2020. Among the reasons for this estimated increase is the positive development in overall life expectancy - Norway’s showing a remarkable 2-year increase - from 2005 to 2015. The highest number of urban inhabitants can be found in the country’s capital, Oslo, with approximately 660,000 Norwegians living there.

Although Norway is among the founding members of the NATO, the Nordic Council and the United Nations, it is not a member state of the European Union. Nevertheless, it is still associated with the Union through a membership in the European Economic Area (EEA), since Norway is among the EU’s most important export and import partners.
The Kingdom of Norway gained its independence from the union with Sweden in June 1905, but it was later that year, in October, when Sweden officially recognized the union’s dissolution. Norway now is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy that is divided into 19 administrative divisions. The state ranks high on the global peace index, making it one of the most peaceful countries in the world.
Norway boasts a stable market economy and an ever-increasing growth rate of about 1.02 percent as of 2016. It has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Europe; most of the EU member states struggle with a higher percentage. In 2016, Norway imported goods worth more than 70 billion U.S. dollars, and exported goods of roughly 89 billion U.S. dollars, leaving it with a sizeable trade surplus. The most important i

And just who set these standards? A gang of "one-worlders" with littles exposure to realpolitik, no doubt.

Norway is a racially-uniform "blue-eyed" society -- so well-behaved that it was able to break apart from its Swedish progenitor without violence; most of the real world simply is too diverse to follow that easy path.

The American Experiment spent its first ten-plus years formulating a basic system of governance -- with the Whiskey and Shay's Rebellions thrown in to provide some "extra play value".

Finally (on the second try) a workable system, with the Bill of Rights, emerged. But the harshest question, the "peculiar institution" called slavery, had to be set aside as irresolvable at the time; after another 75 years, it was resolved -- to the tune of half a million dead and several times that maimed, And that doesn't include the economic cost -- or the cost of repairing the damage in the volatile atmosphere of Reconstruction.

But the process continued -- through expansion, industrialization, and an often-reluctant trip to the world's Center Stage, and with the barbarians like Naziism, Marxism, and various minor annoyances like Osama bin Laden nipping at our heels, but our Constitution, subject to amendments as needed after appropriate deliberation, has endured - serving all 328 million of us with (the usual collection of perpetual juveniles excepted). minimal discontent.

Yes, since comparing a homogeneous Scandinavian country, with 5 million people, to the melting pot, super power, that has 330 million people, makes complete sense.

I was thinking the same about the diversity being an issue here in the much larger, more populated and geographically different USA.

My wife is from Ireland and what works there such as the socialism, high tax rates, universal healthcare etc. would not work here but I guess we are gearing up to try it with Biden/Harris running the show.

America is Great because of its Constitution. There is nothing like it in the world. Yes we have our problems but we enjoy a very high level of living here and the opportunity for advancement to a better life is everywhere.

If people are so interested in how wonderful Norway is maybe they should move there, not as a tourist but as an average person that needs to work for a living.

I think Mitch is going to have something to say about who is running the show.

After we apply diversity criteria, Norway falls to #107.

Seriously though, it's funny to see someone hold up an almost all-white christian country whose wealth is possible due to the sale of large amounts of fossil fuels as the gold standard for how a country should be. Now...lets look over at the OP's political parties goals for the US and yep....exactly the opposite.

Talk about running face first into a wall, great post OP....you just savaged your own political party.

Not anymore. Generally when you begin on the socioeconomic ladder is where you end (With a few exceptions but not enough to warrant keeping the status quo) . Thus why its time for a new system.

Comparing Norway to USA is like comparing covid infection rate between Casper, Wyoming to NYC, NY

Also, i don't think the democrats would like Norway very much because
1) Norway is too white and homogeneous,
2) Norwegians live off their huge oil reserve
