We do need to keep this in perspective and report only covid related infections/deaths. Lets not lower ourselves as a society and politicize unfortunate death
I heard it explained by a talking tv head this way:
Quote:
"No one is getting the flu because we've gotten better at wearing masks, social distancing and hand washing. In other news, we are experiencing a coronavirus surge ..."
Wha? So I guess all that stuff works for the flu but not covid.
When someone is sick, and they get covid, covid tends to accelerate the condition. Basically if your body is already fighting an infection, covid weakens your body even more.
Basically any current sickness is a guy wrestling you with a knife, covid just comes in to assist and holds you down.
It's only November. The season only started a month or so ago. But you can just go to the CDC website and look for yourself how many cases there are. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm
I expect them to stay nice and low, because people are doing things that prevent illness. Social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands. It works for the flu just like it works for COVID. The flu is usually not asymptomatic, unlike COVID, so if someone has symptoms (fever, cough, body aches), they'll likely be at home rather than out and about like they might have been in previous years. Cases stayed low in the southern hemisphere for this reason, so it will probably be like that in the northern hemisphere this year, too.

1.5% of visits to a health care provider were for influenza-like illness (ILI), the same as the previous week (1.5%). ILI activity remains below the national baseline of 2.6%. ILI surveillance may be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and should be interpreted with caution.
Interpretation: people are getting influenza, but at a lower rate than normal. (Perhaps due to mask wearing and social distancing?) They also say you should still get the influenza vaccine.
It’s not hard. The same measures we take to prevent transmission of Covid are even more effective at curbing the spread of flu. The difference is Covid is significantly more contagious than the flu, and also the incubation period is longer.
They are two different illnesses with different levels of contagion and incubation. What works immensely to curb one illness is not necessarily going to prevent the spread of another to the same degree because of the aforementioned factors.
It is all recorded as COVID cases now, that is why...
Probably..... A major agenda in progress!!!!
