An Modern EV can get 220-500 miles per charge and has less maintenance than an gasoline powered car. They have more torque making them pepier than an gas car. The only real issues revolve around price(which is dropping) and charging time(in terms of road trips or for people who can't charge at home).
Yes, modern EVs are quite amazing.
Until you look into where the electricity comes from as well as the environmental conditions at a Lithium mine where the materials for the batteries comes from.

F took off this morning. Up 6.66% I had set limit buys but unfortunately just below opening ask. I played catch up for the next 30 minutes. Achieved just 1.5% gain on F. Hope to get $11 on F . They have everything they need to make me money.
That price will drop drastically with increased production and competition by several companies.
But, Hey. The stable owners and buggy makers said the ICE was a flash in the pan novelty that would never have a future, because there were no roads and no filling stations.
Refresh my memory - Which president did away with increased mileage standards...?
I sold cars for a few months in 1986, and I was told by a number of customers that nobody would ever buy front wheel drive vehicles, which were coming on strong because of the increased fuel economy from not having to power a heavy drive train.
They were wrong. People did, and do.
Ditto EVs. People are, and will continue, and as the efficiency and ease of "refueling" grows, the number of EV drivers will increase dramatically. The Tesla owners I know don't want to ever drive anything with an ICE again.
I bought front wheel drive vehicles in 1984. Where are you talking about?

ok, how many jobs? At what pay? And who pays them?
Since 2009, GM says it's invested $5 billion in Mexico. GM also has four assembly plants in Mexico and employs about 16,000 in Mexico. Barra will do anything Biden says.
G.M. Drops Its Support for Trump Climate Rollbacks and Aligns With Biden
GM is motivated here more by market forces than by politics. They see Tesla sales are taking off worldwide. Ford's e-Mach Mustang sold out very quickly, and they are coming out with an electric version of the popular F-150 truck. GM knows they have to go electric or get left behind.
Nearly all automakers are investing billions in switching to EV. EV adoption is getting close to critical mass. From Inside EV:
"September 2020 was a spectacular month for passenger plug-in electric car sales globally. The volume reached an all-time high of 345,000 (up 91% year-over-year). That is an equivalent of 4.9% of the total car market, which means that one in 20 new cars is already rechargeable."
