Gawd..I hate that phrase "chip in"! Its a phrase that indicates that it is something that's owed..not like giving or donating. Like your roommate asking you to "chip in" to pay the rent, or to "chip in" to help pay the phone bill that you owe.
They are subconsciously guilting you in to spending your money.
Only the gullible buy into it, or those that feel the need to virtue signal.
You can support protestors and not support looters and rioters. You can also support small businesses.
None of these conflict with each other, only Trumpers have a hard time grasping that concept.
