And then it keeps going from there. Now suppliers are going to be effected. Trucking companies effected. The chain that these "pauses" effects just keeps going.

It's a shame that you aren't looking at the bigger picture, the ones these shut downs hurts the most are the "worker bee's" .

1 in 6 could go hungry this year.

Would you support a stimulus bill that would pay those laid-off workers money to keep them afloat so that they won't go hungry?

Restaurants and gyms were superspreader sites.

link

The health officials should've come out with guidelines so that restaurants can modify their environment and practices so they could stay open with some certification announcing to the public it's safe. Instead, we just have this combative environment since all businesses are affected. The PPP should just be canceled for the extensive fraud, and part of the money directed to updating buildings and establishments.

Sure, as long as it was well regulated to help only those in need.

I'd like to see any extra $ added to ui be in the form of a loan. Perhaps give folks on ui an extra one time per lifetime $100/wk for up to ten weeks, with an automatic garnishment upon securing employment of 5% gross until it is paid back.

The loan should be interest free.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California sent about $400 million in fraudulent unemployment benefit payments to state prisoners, a state official said Tuesday, nearly triple the amount disclosed last week and a number that could grow as a criminal investigation continues.

Nine county district attorneys and a federal prosecutor are investigating unemployment fraud involving payments from the California Employment Development Department, which was under intense pressure to quickly process millions of claims as the economic impact from the coronavirus intensified last spring.

That is why i stated regulated, better than the last stimulus package ....

Or, just keep businesses open.

history shows govt's cant regulate any of their schemes honestly. Businesses should be allowed to open on their own terms ASAP and not taxed to make up for the losses

You have to have a shutdown when hospitals are overloaded. They don't have the staff or room. And they are exhausted dealing with this.

The article was about Michigan and crazy governor Wittless. I happened to be in Michigan on a deer hunting trip the week that she shut them down again. The landscape of rural Michigan is littered with signs that say “my governor is an idiot”. All the people I spoke to hated the woman, hated her lockdowns and in the rural county I was in most flaunted her mask order. On November 15 she announced her new lockdown and again I heard a lot of anger.

Here is the problem....
People hated the order, hate the governor but when her deadline to lockdown came 98 percent obeyed like sheep. A few restaurants defied the orders, the vast majority obeyed even though they knew it would mean their business would die. I grew up in Michigan, I thought the people there were better than that. I left very much shocked at how quickly people who expressed serious anger at all this injustice simply just did what they were told. Let’s not forget this lockdown is illegal. Michigans legislative body never passed any law regarding corona lockdowns, in fact the Michigan Supreme Court stripped her of her power over her unconstitutional first lockdown. She used a loophole for the second by using the board of health to do her bidding (most say this is illegal too) Knowing all this why are these people obeying.

Supposedly a Trump official called on Michigan to stand up and he said something to the effect “you get what you put up with”. Nothing could be more true than that statement. If the people of Michigan keep putting up with it then it will keep happening. STOP OBEYING LIKE SHEEP.....be an American and stand up for your rights. What I saw in Michigan made me sick. I lost so much respect for the state I once called home. I know I could never live there again......obviously if I lived there my neighbors could not be trusted to not give my freedoms away.
