I'm not Christian, so I am learning something new here.
It seems like you are saying that Jesus would approve of armed men coming and threatening you with imprisonment if you didn't fork up your money?
Do I have that right?
Jesus said to "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's" when asked if the Jewish people should pay their taxes to the Romans. My assumption is that the Romans pretty much DID send "armed men coming and threatening you with imprisonment if you didn't fork up your money".
Jesus pretty much said the Jews should cooperate with the system.
But Jesus isn't the Messiah...so who cares what he said. The REAL Messiah is gonna come back some day and rid the world of liberals. At least that what I get from Rachel.
Taxes are compulsory therefore do not meet the Biblical definition of "cheerful giving" regardless of one's disposition when a portion of their earnings is withheld by the government, filtered through bureaucracy, and misdirected for personal use only to have a fraction of that which was "cheerfully" withheld arrive at it's intended purpose.
What bs. The church does the same thing when they pass the plate. Different bureaucracy. Church gets tax exemptions to build and do bigger and better. Yet we still have food lines. They should step up or lose exemptions
I changed the title.. now can you answer the question?
Nah. Some questions reaally are stupid. Other questions are not questions at all - they are statements made by people afraid to make outright accusations.

He didn't rave against it.

Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”
.
Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”
And Romans 13
Quote:
Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Yes, I know they are compulsory. Like I said before the giving can be done either way (personal or through community, or both), but why do you feel you cant pay tax cheerfully? If you pay tax, it means you have been blessed with income and part of it goes to the community.
If you want everyone to live by the strict code of the Bible and not have church and state separated then how do you leave out the part about giving to the poor and if you have a hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it? When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
I haven’t come across the Bible verse yet where Jesus says to make sure you don’t kill people with taxes making over 400K maybe I just haven’t gotten to it yet?
Let’s face it Jesus was beyond a socialist in fact he made AOC seem like Reagan..
If you’re a fundamentalist then follow it all not just the parts of the Bible that suit you.
The parable of the lost sheep is not about socialism, or the lack of it. The sheep in this case represents a lost soul. There is no need to guard the 99 because they are safe, and the rejoicing is about returning a lost soul, or person, to Grace.

The Bible has many contradictions and yes Jesus probably would be considered a Socialist today but on the other hand he would also be rejected by the left for his anti-gay and anti-abortion stands.
Jesus also never condemned slavery which I do find interesting.
Jesus is Jesus - he's not easy to define politically.

One is not forced to pay tithes to the church.
Cant speak for all churches, but the ones I have attended the tithes pay for the upkeep of the building itself including utilities, insurance, taxes, salaries for the pastor, etc., buses, church camp and activities, missionary activities, charities, etc. including food banks.
