Just a few doses of an experimental drug can reverse age-related declines in memory and mental flexibility in mice, according to a new study by UC San Francisco scientists. The drug, called ISRIB, has already been shown in laboratory studies to restore memory function months after traumatic brain injury (TBI), reverse cognitive impairments in Down Syndrome , prevent noise-related hearing loss, fight certain types of prostate cancer , and even enhance cognition in healthy animals.

These incredible claims came out from apparently credible sources yesterday, but so far almost no media coverage. Imagine if this is true...

Having been in research for the last 20 years, including the last 3 and a half in neuroscience, this is great news, but remember many drugs show amazing results and promise in animal models, dozens or more every year, but getting those drugs to do the same thing in humans that they do in rodents or even non-human primates is the tricky part.

Many compounds/drugs work great, almost miracle-like in vitro (in cells), but getting those same results in vivo (in animals) is really hard, and lets say you do get good or great results in animal models, getting that to work in humans with similar results, no so easy, I wish it was!

I saw it as well, but honestly....it is still a long ways from being used on humans and showing human results. Its certainly got potential....but until its got some evidences im not getting too excited about it.

OMG! Biden might get to serve his 4 years as President after all.

I wonder if these drugs reverse the cognitive decline, or just stops it where it's at?

Will Biden continue to confuse who family members are?

If I take it, will get a sudden urge to run a maze? Hmm.

Remember, research has been shown to cause cancer in rodents.

Apparently it reverses decline in mice. They start figuring out mazes as well as young healthy mice.

Holy Cow...that means Biden won't be able to say he "doesn't recall" during his upcoming impeachment testimony.

Maybe, he'll also recall:

-Jill Biden was married when he started boinking her.

-He didn't have good grades in school, and never had a full adademic scholarship; as he claimed.

-The driver involved in his ex-wifes fatal crash wasn't drunk, or even at fault in the crash.

-He got caught plagerizing a speech he made, so he shouldn't do that again.

-Who Tara Reade was and what he did to her.

-That he supported racist politicians in years past

They can cure anything in mice. People ain't mice. I remember when clioquinol worked great to clear Alzheimer's plaques in mice but it didn't work in people so well. I think it actually may help a bit. I used it on my father. But it's an old drug and no $ to make marketing it. There is a nerve growth factor called Cerebrolysin that helps.

Note - someone please move this to health and wellness so we don't have so many political references. Biden - Trump! BIDEN-TRUMP!! Does it have to dominate every thread?
