I haven't seen this flag since Texas History class, so I haven't seen it on ranches either.

I'm thinking that you think that your land is a sovereign country--it's not, otherwise you could bring someone there and murder them without fear of prosecution cause you're the king.

Is this the responsibility of the federal bureaucracy, or state and local governments? This is what I don't get. The federal government wants to pawn border control off to state and local governments, but wants to regulate how a rancher can use his own land? This is what I'd like to call fascism. My rights are defined by my Creater as outlined in the declaration of independence. Life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness are just a few of these rights. And yes, a neighbor is entitled to do whatever he pleases with his property. And people are entitled to leave find another place to live or pressure the owner of the property to lay off with the toxic waste (the property owner is fully liable for the safe disposal of such waste and could be targeted for various lawsuits if it's proven that he was negligent with hazardous material).
It's scary how many people think our rights come from the government. People are endowed by their Creator with rights...in spite of the government.

I wonder why there isn't more talk of this, it being a big discovery of oil and all?!!
I think it's shale, no? Much more costly to extract.

This is probably better suited for another thread, but the sad, unfortunate fact is that the vast majority of people today don't want liberty - they want big daddy government to take care of them and throw them a few freebes every once in a while. It has become harder and harder to vote the nanny staters out of office because they have created an entire nation of followers who can easily be bought off with other people's tax money. This, along with the incredible dumbing down of America thanks to government run schools (controlled by the very same nanny state politicians), has turned this country into a shadow of the nation built on liberty and freedom our Founders left for us.
If anyone needs any further proof of this they only need to look at the three main presidential candidates this year; two marxists and a socialist.

GO USA!
The reason tree huggers exist is because their circumstances are good, so they can tell everyone else how to live. As gas gets more and more expensive, less people will be able to exist within that category. I think more and more people would support the government doing whatever necessary to get prices down.
