Their jobs, that’s what they could have done. Proactive policing. Be out, be present, be visible. Pursue small things to let people know they certainly won’t get away with big things. These things will still happen from time to time, but they have spiked dramatically since police forces around the country began to be hamstrung by budget cuts, reduction in forces, open hostility and non-compliance from many communities, and hundreds of hatchet jobs by media and society.

The murderers were also black so it is no big deal that this black fire fighting hero was slain. Had his murders been white and been discovered by the media to have once attended a Trump rally - well then this would be a sensational story.

Had the Police just happened to be on the scene, the thugs would moved on to a different vehicle, elsewhere.

Shame one on one Policing is not possible anywhere.

Crime is on the rise. It is almost as if rioting leftists have made police afraid to do their jobs while leftist politicians have either threatened to or actually cut police funding making police have low morale and less effectiveness against crime.

4. He gave up his cover to keep his gun on target. Not that he should have stopped shooting...you fire until the threat is neutralized. But he advanced out of cover (his car) and into the open.
5. “Defund” and “Dismantle” and “Abolish” the police in action.
I'm not sure what was clear to the man. He saw people rolling up on him with firearms. That was a direct and imminent threat to one's life as far as a reasonable person in that guy's shoes would believe, I submit.

Yep. It's quite sad. The police are getting vilified throughout the country (primarily in leftist cities and states), and they are even being suspended or fired for completely justified use of force. With such an environment, I don't blame many cops if they think twice about how they approach the criminal element.

And then we have leftist cities and states releasing criminals from jail due to Covid, and some even enacting ridiculous bail reform laws that are throwing criminals right back on the streets

Well if these young (?) people had the opportunity to work for half of minimum wage this wouldn't have happened.

Huh? I see hiring signs in windows despite the high unemployment rate. These weren't productive members of society that just lost a job and then decided to murder someone over what they could steal.

I just think the great economist Walter Williams might have had a different take.

I just mean, under his plans, the victim wouldn't have been overpaid union, and there would have been enough to go around for all four of them.

By the other three being able to offer themselves at a lower wage, they could have gotten employment too. They are being shut out by unions andi minimun wage.

I don't doubt doubt that there are help wanted signs, but that doesn't mean those individuals could necessarily offer any value at all to those particular businesses.
