Pretty impressive that we blasted over the 3K mark and we’re already a quarter of a way to the 4K mark.

So, which date will we hit 4K?

C’mon America! Let’s do this!

if you're lucky, they'll be high enough today to crack the 300K mark for you too.

Just to keep you up-to-date on your goals, you need to pull for MUCH higher increases.

You need 4,546 deaths EVERY SINGLE DAY the rest of the year to hit your stated 400K goal.

Yeah, nice try, but nope. The number of excess deaths exceed 300k.

You can easily get tested for the flu. And of course there has been a vaccine each year for forever. And as of more recently antivirals that work really well.

Today's death rate: 1.68%

June 30: 4.8%
July 31: 3.3%
Aug 31: 3.0%

1. And? The fact remains that the deaths totals have never been higher. Yes, treatments are getting better, the death/case has been dropping. Besides, especially early on, much larger fraction of the cases went undetected due to the testing disaster.

2. Second, it's better to use running averages. And definitely not on the same day for cases and deaths due to the lag.

Do we shut down schools, airlines and restaurants in a normal year and there have been over 300,000 deaths even with all those actions and restrictions. I would expect many things to change for the worse if we stay at the current rate of 3,000 deaths per day and record hospitalizations.

Angry More Americans died from coronavirus (3,000) Wednesday than died on 9/11

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/mo...article_inline

U.S. daily death toll tops 3,000 for the first time

The U.S. set another grim record Wednesday, as the coronavirus death toll surpassed 3,000 in a single day for the first time.

At least 3,011 Americans died Wednesday, according to the New York Times, the most yet in any single day of the pandemic. Over the past seven days, an average of 2,249 Americans have died from COVID-19 each day, the Times reported.

By comparison, 2,977 people died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Yes that's unfortunate, but the real issue is the hospital ICUs are close to overflowing. That may end up causing the death toll to skyrocket.

Looks like masks and social distancing are not the answer after all.
