Murder is down all over since you were a child. 1980s murder rate was between 7.9-10.2 per 100,000
2010s murder rate was between 4.5-5.4

Liberals were ALWAYS very forgiving of criminals, and as a result there are big sections of the city where a woman (particularly a white woman) does not venture, even in the daytime.

Until COVID and the BLM riots, I used to go to museums and walk back to the Metro. Until DC ramps down on BLM thugs accosting innocent white people, I and my friends will not be going.
My "job" gave me the opportunity to talk with a lot of cops. They said in many of the projects and surrounding areas when they get a call of a killing, they do NOT respond. They show up in the early morning and picked up trh bodies.

10. Washington, D.C.. The murder rate in Washington, D.C., is 22.8 per 100,000.
It isn’t good but it’s much better than what it was. DC used to have a murder rate of 77/100,000 or something around that. You don’t remember that time? It always trips me out how a number of areas are so different.

That’s not uncommon for many high-crime areas. I’ve watched that in action being next to law enforcement. Heard the call and watched the officers head in the opposite direction. When the gunfire ended, they headed there.
