The numbers: New applications for U.S. unemployment benefits jumped last week to a nearly three-month, owing to an increase in layoffs after a record surge in coronavirus cases as well as to filing delays after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Initial jobless claims surged by 137,000 to 853,000 in the seven days ended Dec. 5, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Thursday. Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast new claims to total a seasonally adjusted 720,000.

Another 427,609 applications for benefits were filed through a temporary federal-relief program that expires at the end of the year.

Once again, where is the so-called president and what is he doing to fix this, besides trying to get his reelection turned over?

Oh yes we all wish it would go away the first day unfortunately the current president has spent four years digging us into third world country mentality with record unemployment and a major health pandemic on its hands.

Thanks Trump, Great Job!

It's going to take two decades to get this country out of what one did in just four years now that is purely pathetic.

Nope, sorry. Everything was trumps fault the day he started, all the crap obama left, the left washed their hands of obama and it all of a sudden was trumps fault.

Well yes it will be Trump's fault as he's the one that caused all the problems.

I feel bad for Biden at this point as he has his work cut out for him like no other president in history has before given the previous administration.

You got to love those folks with those red hats on easy to spots stupidity a mile away.

So Biden is supposed to assume full responsibility day one for all the pathetic decisions made by the previous administration.

yet four years into the current president's administration and he tries to blame Obama for not restocking the emergency stockpiles. Folks you just can't make this stuff up!

that's a mighty low bar. Even lower than for "Obama's great [jobless, anemic, record low growth] economy"

The media wont be presenting it in the same light. Instead, we will be regaled with stories of how Bidens policies have it on the run this will happen regardless of any evidence to the contrary.
