As long as you are not nervous about my raised middle finger, I'm not nervous about your vaccine.

And if they have been getting vaccinated as normal, why the sudden fear?

The African American community has historically been more hesitant about vaccines. This isn’t a new thing.

Taking a wait and see approach to a rushed vaccine does not make someone an "anti-vaxxer" it makes them rational.

From the sounds of it there seem to be alot of people, not just their 'community' that is hesitant. I don't feel it's exclusive to them.

I am not a conspiracy theorist or anti-vaxxer, but have no intention of getting this vaccine. I have no concerns with whether or not it is safe but rather dont see the need for receiving one, much like a flu shot in which I havent received in about 8 years.

It’s not limited to just that particular group but the fact is, this group does tend to be more hesitant overall.

In most cases it will be those at highest risk for the virus and its complications to get the early shots. Front line HC workers and nursing home patients. It will take months to cover those, and by then we will have more information to help those lower on the risk scale with their decision.

I'm not nervous about it. I will take the vaccine as soon as its available to me. To me, getting the vaccine means I can't get it (in theory anyway) which will mean I can't pass it on to someone else. I'm tired of living under this pall of pandemic.

There has always been skepticism in the AA community towards vaccinations. The novelty of this particular vaccine makes it more of an issue than other vaccines. It's brand new. Unlike MMR, DTaP, Flu, etc. which have been around for a long time and have established track records, this is not a known commodity. The lack of track record with this one combined with history (Tuskegee) certainly contributes to more skepticism than something like the Flu shot.

And would you people knock this "anti-vax" BS off, please?

I've probably had more vaccines as a child than most of the rest of you have had your whole lives. It has nothing to do with "anti-vax" anything. It's a rushed "vaccine" for a disease with a 0.14% conditional mortality rate that popped up out of nowhere nine months ago. Yeah, what is there to be suspicious or worried about?

Bottom line is that a 0.14% chance of dying from a disease is of no concern to me. I have a much greater chance of dying of a myriad of other diseases and things. If I wanted to waste my life sitting around worrying about dying of a disease, I'd certainly pick a more dangerous disease to worry about.
