In reality, what Republicans say they believe flows from what they want to do, whether it’s ignore a deadly disease or stay in power despite the voters’ verdict.

In other words, the point isn’t that the G.O.P. believes untrue things. It is, rather, that the party has become hostile to the very idea that there’s an objective reality that might conflict with its political goals.

It's sad that Trumpers are still trying to destroy two and a half centuries of the norms of this country, all to support a charlatan who lost the election in both a popular vote and electoral college landslide (going by Trump's own definition of that term of course)

Trump lost, and will not be inaugurated in 2021. It will not happen.

But what is both pathetic and incredibly sad is that the party of self proclaimed patriots have no compunctions about destroying this country because they didn't get their way

I agree that many Republicans are overboard with this, but Democrats deny facts just as much.

Russia hoax, pee tapes, etc...picking and choosing what science to deny or accept.

The current iteration of the GOP has proven itself capable of doing whatever it takes, even if it means ignoring their oath to the Constitution, in order to remain in power and pass legislation to the benefit of their capital sources. Anything. That's precisely why a LOT of core Conservatives have denounced their affiliation with the Trump GOP. They are antithetical to Conservative principles.

As a matter of fact- the current GOP should stop even trying to call themselves 'Conservatives', because they are certainly not.

You're projecting again. There appeared to be a lot of fraud in this election beyond the things we *know* to have been illegal (i.e., judicial and executive branches changing the rules without legislative approval). Anyone operating in good faith would welcome as many lawsuits as necessary to get at the truth.

In contrast, the Democrats have been in a complete fantasy land for the last four years, telling outlandish lies about everything under the sun simply to seize power undemocratically.

I think it was GWB that started the alternative facts movement. Back then, it wasn't referred to as alternative facts. Her referred to it as just listening to his gut instinct over facts, or something like that.

Dunno....

Maybe when Democrats decided that they and their Media cohorts were the self proclaimed and sole arbiters of "facts"?
