Why do people always scream "communism" (generation, activist, Giuliani)

The monied interests in the GOP can easily control the ignorant masses that now make up the rank and file Republican Party by simply throwing out an easily remembered and repeated word such as that, particularly one that most of these people don't understand.

There are VERY good reasons to correctly point out that COMMUNISTS have been subverting our country for over 80 YEARS!!!!

Most people on the "right" enjoy state owned monopolies. Most roads are public and most are toll free. When the Bush administration proposed privatizing the interstates, it died fast, who wants to pay tolls all day long? We tried private municipal water systems, that did not work. In the end, most social conservatives are conservative socialists, looking for a govt. bailout whether its during bankruptcy or a financial meltdown.

I agree. At least in the 50s it was more understandable, since there was an actual communist threat. The Cold War is over; we won. Righties today are concerned that if socialists get their way, Americans might get Universal Health Care. The horrors! Worse than being in a gulag! Or one could even imagine government paying for two years of community college tuition. Oh no! Western democracy is doomed!
