An end game of zero infections and deaths is unrealistic, not if we want to have decent lives.
Why don’t we have an “end game” of no car accidents, and criminalize driving and private ownership of cars?
Car accidents are not highly infectious SARS viruses. Apples and oranges. We can significantly reduce the spread of Covid with masks, social distancing, and now, with a soon to come vaccine.
True fact, on average 3,700 people die from car accidents every day. How do you prevent that? Don't drive. It's ridiculous because we all have to drive. Our society depends on transportation. We all however don't have to act like entitled rectums over whether to wear a mask or not. If only something as simple as wearing a mask could prevent all of those deaths every day, we would all do it wouldn't we. Compare it to wearing a seat belt, which is the law and does prevent deaths.
Wearing masks, especially N95's prevents over 90% of the virus from effecting you. This should be a no brainer. Buy some N95 masks and wear them in public.
Yes, we have to wear masks for awhile even after receiving the vaccine. The vaccine protects you from getting sick, but only you. You can still be infected with Covid post vaccination, but, your body recognizes the intruder and works on killing it off right away. That doesn't mean that you are not contagious to others.
If you get your annual flu shot, does that mean you are 100% protected from the flu and can't get it? No it doesn't. Some vaccine years get the strain wrong, but that doesn't mean you will have a bad illness. It may be a weaker flu with the vaccine. But, you can still infect others.
Covid is raging out of control. One vaccine does not reverse that fact. Millions and millions of vaccines, wearing a mask, and not gathering is what it will take to stop this insidious bug.

You said it yourself. Vaccines don’t completely eradicate a virus or make you 100% safe. So what is the end goal then?

I have stated for quite some time that if you are hoping a vaccine will be the key to normalcy you are sadly mistaken. New Normal. Repeat that phrase. New Normal means:
- Less school
- Less commuting
- Less commerce
- Less pollution
- Less financial security
- Less small businesses
- Less mobility
But it isn't just in America, it is global. That is why it is called a Global Pandemic. The only solution will be more government assistance for a long time to come. Eventually we will get used to it, even grateful to the government for providing us assistance.
And any vestige of human ingenuity, initiative, and personal responsibility completely annihilated. Totally under the control and our very existence dependent on Big Guv'mint. I pray I'm dead at that point.
Your not. Unlike what they repeat about wearing masks, that it doesn't protect the wearer but protects others, the vaccine protects you. You can still spread it (apparently) but cant get it (they hope). So you aren't protecting anyone.
