Nothing to see here. McConnell is not going to go down with the ship. He supported Trump's fight until now because it would make him look silly since there is no hope of overturning the election.
Most of these politicians only care about their political career first, the American people second. That's why we don't have a stimulus bill. They are more concerned about missing their Christmas break while 1 in 10 Americans are starving.
McConnell said he would support Trump’s right to question and challenge the election until December 14th Electoral College vote and once that occurred whomever won would then be the President Elect. You don’t have to like McConnell, and you may quite correctly think the way he says stuff is a whole lot of word tap dancing, but if you pay attention when he answers a question about a specifically asked situation, he always explains the set of rules he’s going to follow in that given situation and then does it.

The question is was Mitch able to thread the needle here? Was he obsequious enough the last 4 years to keep Trumpers satisfied but now still able to keep control of them and turn the ship away from Trump and his nonsense. I'm not sure. The inmates may have taken control of the asylum. We shall see.
I don't see how Mitch played Trump, he played by the book here. He's more powerful than POTUS at steering the country which direction to go. Anybody that thinks Obama, Trump, or even Biden would have a big effect on policy making doesn't know anything about politics.
Mitch is the leader of the establishment party. Even though he is hated, he does a much better job sticking to his guns than Nancy Pelosi who doesn't know anything.
Mitch got what he wanted which is to put conservatives on the bench in as many courts as possible. It won't last forever, but it is quite a legacy, and they will gum the gears of progress for years. Now, he is grinning like the Cheshire cat because he, like every other respectable senator, knows that Trump is an incompetent, deranged fool who will soon be gone.
Riddle me this: Senator Mitch McConnell states the obvious, that Mr. Biden is President-Elect, and President Trump blasts him.
President of Russia Putin yesterday also congratulated Mr. Biden for his win.......nothing from Mr. Trump.
