Sounds very similar to the Trump policy banning flights coming in from China.
So liberals - look like Trump had it right.

Except he didn't ban all travel between the US and China, citizens were still allowed to travel here. He also didn't ban travel from Europe until 5 weeks later and they were primarily responsible for the spread of infections on the east coast, too little too late. So yes this time around he should take action immediately, don't wait.

So what is Trump waiting for, Europe has already banned travel from the UK.

That wasn't the criticism.
It's amusing how you either ignore facts or don't know the truth.

Media outlets bashed President Donald Trump back in January after he implemented a travel ban from China because of the novel coronavirus – a move that many other countries have now followed.

We probably should block or heavily screen flights in from Europe/UK. We should of been doing that for any international flight this past year, anyways, imho.

Good news is it may not be different enough to need a New vaccine.

Trump would have been right to flat out ban travel from China, but that's not what he did. He restricted some travel and called it a ban. The problem with Trumps "ban" is that it was toothless because it was never actually about preventing the virus, it was about leverage in his trade war with China. It's the same reason he was harping about calling it the "China virus." A "ban" means flights are stopped. After Trump restricted travel from China, more than 8,000 Chinese and foreign nationals from Hong Kong and Macau were allowed to enter the U.S. between Feb-May. Moreover, 27,000 Americans also returned home from China during that span - as if being American somehow makes you immune from the "China Virus."

What's more, is that after the China restriction (and while the rest of the world had restrictions in place), Trump waited over a month to restrict travel from Europe, allowing the virus to pour into the States from Italy and other infected European countries. Most of New York's cases came from Europe. Cuomo is calling for a ban, meaning no travel between the UK and NYC airports. Not some travel, or just U.S. citizens... no travel, period. To call it the same as what Trump did back in late January is to not understand what actually happened.

What's amusing is what you find as 'the truth' - citing a right wing propaganda site that uses little actual evidence for their claims as some kind of 'proof' fails.

Oh look a media site did a story about a guy from Georgetown University who didn't like the policy.

That isn't the media bashing the policy -- it's a guy from Georgetown University.

And the piece from New York times -- editorial on why restricting Chinese Nationals from entering USA may not be the most effective policy has some good points.

What was the point of restricting just Chinese Nationals and not all travelers from China. And while the govt. encouraged quarantining -- it of course did not MAKE travelers quarantine -- so how effective was the policy.

A fox News story on how China slams Trump for the restriction isn't the media slamming Trump -- it is a report on China's official reaction to the policy.

Trump was not heavily slammed for that policy. Sure some people didn't think it was the right one -- but there wasn't an onslaught of criticism. Travel restrictions were in place in other countries already --- it wasn't a bad policy -- it just wasn't the pivot in the fight against the virus -- as we can see now.

And unfortunately, Trump's limiting travel to only 'Chinese' Nationals just suggest that he thought only the big, bad Chinese could bring the virus home to the good ole USA.
