Some of you may go all teary-eyed to hear this, but current Mayor Bill de Blasio is term limited and cannot run for Mayor in New York City again in next November's mayoral election.
So the usual suspects, Democrat left wannabees and political hucksters all, were all queuing up and one of them was sadly expected to take over for de Blasio. It would have been a continuation of the incompetent, insane corruptocracy that has erupted under Mayor de Blasio.
Then again, maybe not. Andrew Yang has dropped into the race and according to NBC News, is now the early favorite, although it is not exactly clear what they are basing that conjecture on.
Businessman and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang has filed paperwork to run for mayor of New York City, the city's Campaign Finance Board confirmed on Wednesday.
Yang's filing has the potential to immediately upend a race that was shaping up as a contest between long-entrenched city politicians. It comes just days after a new poll giving him a slight lead among his fellow Democrats running for mayor.
The entrepreneur sparked a huge following in the Democratic primaries for president with his call for universal basic income -- $1,000 a month for every American over 18, no strings attached, funded by a tax on companies benefitting from automation. But, his broad internet popularity did not translate to votes as he'd hoped.
To be fair, it is not at all clear that Andrew Yang would be distinctly better than any of the other wildly irresponsible leftist hacks that have been expected to contend for this spot. Yang is an extreme leftist himself, who distinguished himself during the Democrat presidential primary contest by his outspoken advocacy for a "Universal Basic Income" for everyone. Basically permanent welfare for all, no work required. This would be the ultimate permanent dependency program that only a group of totalitarian control freaks would think is a good idea. But he does.
Anyway, Yang was an entrepreneur and a businessman, and he has not really ever been a professional politician. So as far as that part of his profile, he shares a good deal in common with President Trump.
They badly need some sort of a change in New York City. I do not know if this is actually it, but there is nothing clearly better on the radar screen, so maybe this is the best they can do. Stay tuned....
Really? Lots of my right wing friends seemed to like him and Tulsi during the primaries. I don't think an "extreme leftist" would gain cross-over appeal with conservatives.
I dont think he is far left. Not like AOC. /shudder
But he is the economist guy, right? I personally don't think he is ready to 'run one of the biggest cities in America'. But maybe in a financial position, sure.
Especially a City so complex and held together by threads as NYC. He gonna get swamped and overrun. The police will turn their backs on him.
But hey,...I don't care for DeBlasio , maybe any change is a chance to swing back.
Yang can’t be worse then DeBlasio, I just hope New Yorkers will consider the candidates profile and policies, and how it would effect smaller businesses.

This was a suggested move to him during his campaign for potus --- seems Yang lacks political experience. Go figure that, has to come into play for the highest office in the land.
Yang barely speaks mandarin. If elected, I hope he doesn't do like Deblasio and do part of his briefings in bad Spanish. So cringe. Get an interpreter,..lol.
Is he , indeed far left commie? Can someone post his bats*&^ crazy socialist Venezuelan tweets or ideas?
Because I don't get that from him. Even when he talks about UBI,..he comes off as practical as opposed to a ranting madman like Sanders. It's just easier on the palette from Yang. I don't agree with it,..but when he proposes it and how he makes it sound, it's at least within debatability.
Could be interesting. I’d actually like to see him win and implement some of the ideas he has.
