The problem is he didn't actually veto it, he 'put it in his pocket'.

A pocket veto occurs when Congress adjourns during the ten-day period. The president cannot return the bill to Congress. The president's decision not to sign the legislation is a pocket veto and Congress does not have the opportunity to override.

Congress fiddled around until the end of the session, it didn't go to the president early enough to avoid this maneuver.

It is true that there is all kinds of junk in the bill that should be removed; and the amount per head is certainly debatable. But Donald knows that $2K per head is a non-starter and in express opposition to what GOP wants. He's not really serious. That's the integrity and character of this President.

He just wants to set fire to this, sit back and enjoy the flames, and watch government hopefully shut down after Christmas, and maximize whatever message can for Congress and the Biden administration. The more he can do to get back at people who wouldn't support his coup, the more damage he can do, the better. If he can sabotage more, he will.

And if Americans happen to take collateral damage over this, so be it.. he's gonna be enjoying the weather at his Mar-a-Lag palace, and you won't.
This bill shouldn’t be passed. It’s full of crap I am tired of us borrowing money to give away. Our country needs help, help us first or veto it.

Right...printing "glitches" prevented the bill from getting to all the law makers and most didn't have time to read it before passing it.

There was no bickering and fighting and re-writing. The $600 was in the bill from the start while $1.3 billion was going to Egypt and millions more to Pakistan so they could do their "gender studies".

The Dems were just as complicit in filling that bill with pork to other countries while leaving Americans mere crumbs.

And, maybe that was the plan all along....

Someone else on this forum said "this is a shell game..". A Shell Game is a confidence trick used to perpetrate fraud.
In confidence trick slang, this swindle is referred to as a short-con because it is quick and easy to pull off.

They "passed" this bill (a bill that is loaded with things they "say" they knew nothing about because they didn't have time to read it)
FOUR days before Christmas because they wanted to go home to enjoy their Christmas holiday.

It seems highly unlikely that they had no idea that DJT wasn't planning to sign it,...

The longer you have to think about this, the more apparent it is that this whole thing stinks.

Pelosi isn't stupid. She knew exactly what she was doing by introducing that bill so late.
Law makers didn't even have time to read the full bill never mind debate on it. It got rushed into passing.

People will now focus on Trump "veto'ing it" rather than the crap that is in it.

Very few eyes are going back to Congress for creating the pork they did while ignoring Americans.

Right. Trump might be a damaged, psychotic figure, but he's not stupid (just ignorant, and there's a huge difference between stupid and ignorant). Now, I wonder, how will this affect the Georgia runoffs? Opinions?

Do you just make it up as you go? Pelosi wants $2000 to go out and just called for a vote to do just that, although the GOP Senate would never allow Americans to get the help they need. The Democrats had to compromise in order for Americans to get anything, $600 was your party's idea of "help".

They even tried to slip it past their own by demanding a vote before anyone could read it. It sounds like a repeat of when Pelosi said of Obamacare "we need to pass it to understand what is in it".

Does anyone remember when Pelosi called the first stimulus of $1200 "crumbs" and now she is calling $600 brilliant ? Who is playing politics here while the average American suffers under the Government shutdowns? Who doesn't care about the collateral damage that all the grandstanding and pompous actions of our elected elite have inflicted on us?

The Covid relief bill should be just that and NOT Billions of dollars handed over to foreign countries to help them. Did anyone notice in that bill there was $25 million earmarked for raises to House members?

Of course Trump is bitter that the election was stolen from him, who wouldn't be? Trump doesn't need to sabotage anything because the Dems and some Reps are doing it themselves.

People actually in contact with reality who would realize they picked exactly what they themselves planted, NO theft, fraud, fake ballots or any other alleged nonsense involved.

Both sides are playing the US citizens. Wake up! and put your political the identity politics aside. It’s time for all Americans to stand together and fight for the people. Not just the Dems or Republicans ... for the people. We may have our differences, but this is no time to be divided or fighting amounts ourselves. Our country is in crisis, our neighbors are losing their jobs, homes, businesses and our children are not being educated. We need to stand together and say NO ****** Way! These slime balls in Washington and state, city leaders are still receiving their paychecks, continue to keep their jobs, and have the ability to pay their bills.
The American people are being used as pawns for their political agenda and its working!
