What matters is how Black people perceive it -- not you....it's not all about you -- -or me.

I personally don't have a horse in this race. But I understand why it may be offensive.

So remove it -- it isn't history, it is a statue.

It does not erase history.

History is not the statues built

Maybe we should tear down all the statues of MLK, and rename all the MLK schools, and see what happens.
Why did Boston's citizens tear down a statue of King George?

Sorry the negros ain't bowing to the white man anymore.l

Apparently the statue has been controversial since the day it was dedicated. There was an alternative statue showing Lincoln with Black Union soldiers but it was going to be 'too expensive'. So from day one this statue seems to have been the source of a good debate.

Maybe they should commission that alternative and place them side by side in a museum.

This statue has been gone for about 6 months now... Aren't there more important things to worry about than a statue that was removed 6 months ago?

Maybe they could put up a statue of some old black liberation army members like Sundiata Acoli and Assata Shakur who murdered of a New Jersey state trooper in 1973. It can depict them standing over the dead cop.

Are there statues depicting slave owners beating and raping slaves? That is very much a part of history.

Is the landscape in Germany peppered with statues honoring Hitler.? Does the Nazi flag fly in state houses?

Has Germany and the world forgotten the Holocaust, because the country removed statues and flags that promoted Hitler?

This particular statue was erected in 1876. What is objectionable is the slave groveling at Lincoln’s feet.

So you’re comparing Abe Lincoln to Hitler now? Or the slave?
