As a child I wished I was born rich, as an adult, I realized I was born something better than rich, I was born American.
One of the many sad things that comes from the storming of our Capitol Building, is that we have shown the world just how many ignorant people our country has, that perhaps we're not the best country in the world. So sad!!
That's one of the problems. America is not the best country in the world, it never has been. To even start to fix things, Americans need to start acknowledging that their country has many serious problems many with their roots that are centuries old:
systemic racism and sexism, an antiquated election system, a political system that caters to the wishes of the rich and corporations, millions of people in a wealthy country relying on food stamps and food stamps just to survive, a public school system that obviously doesn't teach critical, independent thinking, deteriorating infrastructure, a bloated military that is omnipresent in so many other countries telling them what to do instead of worrying about internal order....the list goes on and on. I've always thought of the U.S. as a sullied, rapacious, brutal, destructive, corrupt, greedy country. Great place for white men, not so great for the rest of us.
