Trump was impeached while he was in office. The trial is a separate matter. Mitch is asking for the trial to be delayed until mid-February so T**** can come up with a defense. As of yesterday, he didn't even have an attorney to represent him. Mitch has also told the republicans to vote their consciences, and now that he's out of the way and not a threat, they might actually reveal what they thought of him, which wasn't much. He was a useful idiot while it lasted.
T**** is still receiving security briefings, which are saleable to the highest bidder, or useful to curry favor with dictators. HE has also been impeached for inciting a mob of violent insurrectionists to attack the United States Congress while it was in session. T**** is a danger to the country, and must be convicted and prevented from ever being considered for an elected office of other position of trust again.
If you don't think that, then you don't understand the basic principals of checks and balances in our government.

Some of us got a big surprise and haven’t trusted The American People to do the right thing since January 6th.
There never was an evidentiary hearing in the U.S. Supreme Court, which is the time evidence is presented and witnesses testify. Texas was never allowed to present its evidence to the SCOTUS.

Repeat after me, the best way of getting evidence into court is to provide the evidence to the police who can then arrest the suspected criminals. Then, during a trial, evidence will be presented.
The Supreme Court decides issues of constitutionality. When does the Supreme Court look at evidence???
