If we allow Trump to simply walk away from an attempt to overthrow the government we have no country left to defend. Precedent will be set that a sitting president is allowed, without force of consequence, to incite deadly insurrection in order to hold onto power. But no, we shouldn't actually punish him with the full force of our laws or anything. That wouldn't be nice.
If we do nothing we are proclaiming that the US government is open available for the taking by whoever storms the capitol next. A very real and firm and painful consequence is necessary here or we are finished.

If he were indeed executed, he'd become a martyr for the ages. Stripping a man who was once President of the United States of US citizenship is the ultimate humiliation. He's fat and looks unhealthy. He's not going to live too much longer anyway. I truly hate the idea of this creepy lunatic lying in state in the nation's Capitol, especially now. Strip him of that honor, as well.

I like that idea - after he serves his sentences for all his other crimes, that is. Of course, he'll probably die in jail, which would be fine with me.
I say put him in exile. Strip him of his citizenship and forbid him to set foot on American soil for the rest of his life.
Great idea! Reminds me of the short story/film, "Man Without A Country," where a traitor was stripped of his citizenship and put on a ship at sea for the rest of his life.
Look up the definition of demagogue, it describes trump to a tee, Along with hitler, Mussolini and others that have come along. I cant believe half of the americans can't see this guy for what he is. Had trump won the election, in 4 years, we'd be dealing with a dictator.

The people on Wed. should be charged with insurrection. If peaceful protests turn violent, then those involved should be held accountable. This was not that. And they did it with the blessing of the President of the United States who called them patriots and said he loved them. Let that sink in.

I believe #45 and the 123 House Republicans that signed the Texas lawsuit should be held accountable for provoking the rioters.Those House Republicans are just as guilty of inciting a riot as #45

The President of the United States called for people to take action on the government. No Democrat ever called for the people to take action on the government and storm the Capitol. No Democrat ever told rioters, looters, people burning buildings that they loved them, nor called them patriots. None of the rioters, looters, etc. ever stormed the halls of Congress in order to stop the government from doing its Constitutional duty. Try again.
