25A his ass. Pence should do the right thing. Trump will single-handedly ruin the GOP for years, perhaps decades. The GOP better save itself while it still can.

This will be a stain that won't wash out. I think in the long run the Republican party will be destroyed by this. Rational conservatives won't want to be associated with this madness. The right is going to split.

You can't just "fire" a president and no one would bother at this late date. Maybe Congress could publicly condemn him. That would be appropriate.

I don't think it's done. He still has 14 days during which he has the power of the presidency. Today was just testing the waters. Do you think he would be telling his followers to go home if they had taken and held congress? Or would he be dropping hints that protestors should invite "loyal" republicans back into the chambers to sign the proper documents to fake legitimacy at overturning the election results?

Throughout his presidency, he has rarely acted directly, but always by hints and by proxy. When things go his way, he capitalizes, when they don't, he backs away and tries another route.

If there is an attempt to invoke the 25th amendment or a strong reaction against him, he will escalate.
If there is a weak reaction he will escalate.

With just some words an innuendo, the leader Executive Branch was able to temporarily stop the checks and balances the Legislative Branch holds over him. I think it is quite likely that there will be another attempt, or series of them in the coming days. Each one will erode the foundation of our republic a bit more until it collapses.

History teaches us that autocrats don't need a majority of citizens, legislators, or even armed forces to follow them. They just need enough to give the impression of legitimacy.

Might be anotrher way in which Trump sets a precedent. Some are talking about impeaching him again. https://www.rollcall.com/2021/01/06/...-of-president/

I would think 25A would be a termination or being fired
