POTUS authority is limited by those willing to board the crazy train as it heads for the cliff.
Worse possible scenario is launching a nuclear weapon. Other things ....
Not protecting troops, journalists, civilians in other countries who may come under attack
Letting oil companies or Others drill or use land that should be protected
Pardoning all the “patriots” arrested so they can cause another more deadly attack
Release classified info causing harm to relations

Trump didn't do ANYTHING yesterday. He didn't call for violence.
Some of his supporters engaged in mostly peaceful protests at the Capitol. Big deal. It was nothing compared to what protesters did in connection with the Kavanaugh hearings or what BLM protesters and rioters did this summer in DC (and elsewhere for that matter).
Meanwhile, you're celebrating a new President who went MONTHS without denouncing the leftwing violence this summer and a new Vice President who actually raised money to bail out rioters.
And if Pence is seriously considering this, he is the one who is unhinged, because some people pushed down barricades, others walked around them and then they took selfies in the Capitol. He needs to be removed by the 25th.
He would be lighting a fire and calling out all the crazies and incite a string of violence that will last for months, if not years.
