As was put on full display for the whole world to see yesterday, undeniable to any sane rational human, Trumpism has been the single-most-significant threat to national security and to the US dissolving into a feudal authoritarian nationalist state than has been seen in modern times.

It saddens me that quite a few close friends and family members who I love and respect voted for that type of leadership based on the concern of "my taxes may go up". I still love and respect them as people and always will and fortunately quite a few (of whom I'd had plenty of lively yet civil debates over the past few years) now renounce the events of yesterday and don't even play the "whataboutism" card in reference to BLM rioting.

There is hope for this country. But for sure; it will get worse before it gets better.
That is the type of mentality that the dnc is hoping for. Gives them Carte Blanche to **** on our freedoms and rights..

Think this way. I think the entire SALT should go away but ... let’s say there is no limit.

I can buy a huge house and deduct mortgage interest and property tax off my income.

You on the other hand don’t have any debt or property, so you pay full taxes.
I never thought of those who couldn't use SALT because in this state (with its high property taxes) most people who own homes use SALT to reduce their tax burden. Property owners here outnumber those who don't and writing off property taxes helped people from a variety of income levels. You don't have to own a huge house to have to pay higher property taxes here. I do understand what you're saying, though.

I was also one of those "other people" in the past. Why not eliminate the SALT cap and increase the standard deduction so that both sides benefit?

Wow, that is pathetic. Hopefully your business is not affected negatively by anything this new administration does, if it does though, you've got yourself to blame.

That doesn't work in a consumer driven economy.

If the US descends into literal anarchy, to which it has not come closer in 160 years than it did yesterday with actions incited and encouraged by Donald Trump..... there is no business to be had.

If you choose to be shortsighted enough to condone that type of behavior from a world-leader in the name of "don't raise my taxes" with the belief that said alternative is going to keep your business strong; that is your right. Fortunately we have avoided a full-on tyrannical authoritarian takeover of this nation so that it actually does remain your right to believe how you want.

Note the market responses today after said hostile takeover failed and it became undeniable that a new administration will be sworn in 2 weeks.

Were you this excited when the BLM and Antifa were burning and looting? Asking for a friend.

Trump's first item when he took office was to dump 1.5 trillion dollars on the wealthy. The stock market soared and with 1.5 trillion dollars why not. At the end of Trump's term the rich got richer, not a little but a whole lot richer, while the working folks took a nosedive. The jobs Trump promised to bring back...never happened...actually more jobs left the US under trump. Then there was the Trump tariffs that killed the small farmer allowing the boys to buy up their land for a song. At the same time Trump's tariffs put billions in Putin's pocket.

What we had under trump was very simple. Socialism for the wealthy and capitalism for the working folks.

In 2019, before Covid, 9000 small businesses crashed and burned. 2020 Trump's inaction and failed leadership killed more than 350,000 Americans. In 2020, the cost of living soared with food prices rising to 20%. BTW, Trump added another 6-8 trillion to our national debt.

I am delighted to see those with the most, meaning those with 99% of all the wealth, pay their fair share under President Joe Biden.

Yesterday was a **** show, without a doubt. And it only brought the Right down to the same level as the left / Democrats. They've exhibited this type of behavior for the last four years. It was the actions of a few though, how many thousands of people were there and how many stormed the Capitol ? A handful. Again, I don't condone this. The fact that you actually think Trumps presidency was a "full-on tyrannical authoritarian takeover" is laughable though.

Taxes was just a tiny fraction of why I voted for Trump, twice. I'm done with both parties though...neither are really in our best interest. Probably vote Libertarian from here on out...I just don't know.

As far as the market is concerned. I want to see Biden / Harris succeed. It's been a great 4 years, for my wife and I, and everyone we know (many are business owners) and hopefully we will see another great 4 - 8 years.

What actions would you take against the virus?
