I honestly think that if Pence was president, he would probably still be the president(-elect) right now.
Think about it - if the senate had ditched Trump last year when they had the chance, they get a full year of President Pence. He likely handles the coronavirus outbreak worlds better than Trump and, concordantly, enjoys the same popularity bump that the governors of both parties got for their handling of the virus. The right-wing media would quickly fall in line once they realize that Trump is being tossed out and likely that would lead to most of the Republican party eventually accepting that Trump committed crimes and needed to be removed, with only the die-hard cultists holding out.
With Trump off the ticket, the Democrats are now robbed of their single most potent weapon for energizing their base. Election turnout winds up being much lower, as two "safe" candidates are now on the ballot. Given the relatively narrow margin that Biden and the Democrats managed to win by, even with what a train wreck Trump was personally and the way he completely botched the COVID-19 crisis, to the tune of 350,000+ dead and millions sick and/or unemployed, it is not unfeasible that Pence wins the presidency, the Republicans hold onto the senate, and manage to flip enough seats to take the House back. They then get two-to-four years of uncontested rule, now with a much more pliant judiciary and tilted Supreme Court to take advantage of to boot. Also, because Pence would have only served one year of this term, he would have been eligible to run again in 2024 and take advantage of the incumbency boost.
So - in a thought that truly warms my heart - the Republican refusal to actually fulfill their constitutional oaths last January and remove a president who had nakedly committed impeachable offences led to them being shut-out in the last election. And it couldn't have happened to a nicer group of guys.

And Trump is not going away. For now let's hope they can restain him for 12 more days. But he'll keep at it, as will his evil sons and creepy daughter. None of them care, none have qualifications, but they are laughing because they know how to fool people. Maybe he'll hold a rally on inauguration day or perhaps he'll incite another riot for the fun of it.

Biden and Harris don't have any qualifications either. And Biden is the one who is creepy. Even Harris called him a racist and rapist. We will have to keep all the women out of the White House. But then mostly he's locked up in the basement. And they will dispose of him for Harris soon enough.

This is utter garbage....so far removed from reality and so offensive, exemplified by the blue highlighted, that it should be launched toward the upside-down, inside-out alternative universe where any part of it might fit. It will take 2000 years to get there at the speed of light.
Trump is, far and away, the best President we have ever seen in our lifetimes. And every moron that he has bluntly skewered has had it coming. No less courage than Trump's would accomplish a damn thing and America was utterly fed up with empty suits in our White House. His accomplishments have been itemized and summarized countless times - no need for me to do it again. And he is justifiably proud of his family....as is most of America....all of America, that is, who enjoy a healthy outlook on life.
America is a very sick country. Because about 25% of it has been led somewhere close to this far astray. The media would tell you it's half, but it is nowhere near half.
The people saw a rare opportunity in 2016 to really do something about the growing plague on average Americans, so they did. But the sickest of the sick fought their interests tooth and nail beginning well before that election.
Their quarrel isn't with Trump. It is with normal, productive, law-abiding, freedom-loving average Americans. And in 2020, their attack on America knew no legal or ethical bounds whatsoever.
We've learned another lesson....understand better just what it will really take to get our country back. It will happen - just a question of when. Our President - and his family - will have 4 years to put together a winning strategy for the long term. And at the center of that strategy will be education of the public about the enemy media. And I mean enemy. I'm certain that central to his plan will be the creation of a new communication vehicle which will provide an uninterruptible link with the people. Twitter is history where serious adults are concerned. So are "journalists".
As understandable as it would be, in view of his treatment for the last 5 years, for Trump to say to hell with this country and find a new home in some remote and peaceful place, I don't think he will. Because he loves this country and understands that it is only a very sick minority who has fought him. Most of us will enthusiastically elect him for a 3rd time if given that opportunity. If he is tired and slowing down by then, which would also be completely understandable, most of us could easily see Don Jr. or Ivanka taking America into a great future.

I have virulently opposed the three impeachments in my lifetime, I thought they were destructive to our nation and driven by nothing but pure politics. I honestly believe what happened yesterday was fueled by the last impeachment charade and have nothing but contempt for Adam Schiff. I’m certainly no Trump fan but he never got under my skin and unlike most people I have been willing to give him credit where it was due.
Yesterday, though, makes me think, despite the fact that he only has a couple of weeks left, that he needs to be impeached. I have no interest in punishing him, I just want to protect the nation. If this were just about getting him out of office, the 25th Amendment should be the appropriate response, but it’s not just about getting him out of office. It’s about making sure he and his followers, especially the more fervent ones, understand he can never be president again. If convicted, instead of just impeached as we have done in all four cases, it can include a stipulation that he would never be able to hold office again. That is the important part.
I know they took forever with the last charade, but if 75% of Congress will support it, this can be rammed through in the time left. Our nation does not need the domestic terrorism that he would be capable of whipping up if his more delusional followers.
