Well, actually in an "at will" state a person can be fired for protesting, without legal recourse. The "right to protest" is only a restriction of government, not employers.

Red states are "at will" states.

No such protection is given to rioters. A riot is still an illegal act that is well defined by our state and federal laws.
So when a protest becomes a riot, and a riot causes some participant to lose their job, so be it.
In my state you can be fired for any reason. Boss doesn't like red hair, they can fire you. Boss doesn't like blue cars, they can fire you. Republicans have pushed to get rid of worker protections. So even if you never set foot in the capitol building if the boss doesn't want to be associated with a legal protester, they can fire you.

The way they beat that poor police officer (the one who died) is terrible! I hope they catch all of them and give them all long prison sentences! They did say "some" of the mob (not the peaceful protestors) came to his rescue but I guess it was too late after that.

You are either too stupid to hold down a responsible employment position, or you are a domestic terrorist fully willing to attack the Capitol and overthrow a constitutionally required process and overturn a legal and settled national election. If the former your employability and job should be in jeopardy and if the later you should lose your job and face charges and criminal prosecution and fined and/or jailed.

I see people here trying to wish this fact away by drawing a false equivalency with the police abuse riots of the summer. This is only one more example of Trumper foolishness. Someone looting a 7/11 is not comparable to an assault on the constitution and attack on the nation’s Capitol at the behest of a deranged president.
Indeed.

Spray painting a federal building with anti-police brutality graffiti is nowhere near the same league as a violent (as evidenced by their beating a police officer to death) mob breaking into the Capitol and searching for Pence, Pelosi, etc. Not even close.

This whataboutism is so weak, I'm surprised anyone would even bring it up in a serious conversation.

As to being fired, of course they are being fired. They are either unbelievably stupid or clearly delusional to be falling for Trump's lies at this stage of the game.

Over five dozen court cases and not a smidgen of credible evidence of any kind of voter fraud. This election has been observed, counted, recounted, certified, signed and sealed. It's done.

Agreed. Oh, and aren't they those calling themselves real americans..?

Sadly, some have been handed down improper notions as to what and how the country should be. It's startling how off-the-rails it has become.

They can fire if it isn't based on protected class status. Meaning a person in a wheelchair couldn't work as a lifter or grabber at an Amazon facility but might be able to sort packages on the line.

Yes, but rioters are not a protected class, neither are protesters.
