Welcome to communist America. Get ready, just because the election is official now doesn't mean this war is over. Far from it. The people who feel they were cheated aren't just going to accept Biden.
Wait. Are you saying government deliberately let the terrorists into the Capitol building in order to make Trump and his supporters look bad?

He needs to be impeached again and this time removed, even if it ends up being symbolic since Biden will become President this month.

While I believe Senators Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, Susan Collins and Pat Toomey would vote for it, Lisa Murkowski most likely as well, there needs to be about 11-12 more GOP senators that agree to the impeachment to get the 67 votes.

I think that's the only way it guarantees it and sends the message.

Otherwise, he could run again in some position in some deep South state, and be a voice to basically restart the Confederacy.

For too long, the GOP has acted like Trump's actions are forgiveable and words don't matter. And I'm afraid even Pence and some GOP members will more or less take that softer thoughts and prayers approach, while trying to move away from it as quickly as possible, and back to the Democratic Party is socialism blabber.

Personally can’t wait for the movies/tv shows.

I don't find this type of back and forth to be helpful at all. I recognize I sometime engage in it too, but I'm trying to do less of that, if not stop completely.

The reality is there are strong feelings on both sides. Telling someone that they are unamerican because of their policy views is not helpful. I will say WITHOUT APOLOGY that Trump's leadership in the attack on our capital is unforgivable. From a policy point of view, I disagree with many of his policies, agree with a few, and respect people's right to support most of them (policies, not some of the ideologies).

OP: I suspect Trump's legacy will not be as rosy as you make it out to be. In fact, and with much evidence, whether you like his policies or not, he made many Americans feel very ashamed. Ashamed because they are Americans, and some of his behavior was not reflective of their values. I'm not saying they are right or wrong (I certainly have an opinion), I am just pointing out that a blanket statement that he made us proud to be Americans is not accurate. To most of the world, America is now seen with pity. That is unfortunate, no matter how justified or not. We are not as strong of world leaders as we were four years ago.

Honest and transparent? Jesus. He lied at an astonishing rate and his nepotism was freakin' brazen.

A successful impeachment could make him ineligible for a 2nd term, so it's not really a waste if that's the endgame.

As someone who is happy to see him out of office and would love to sleep soundly knowing he can't win it back, I have mixed feelings on impeachment. I'm not convinced another drawn out process would be good for undoing the damage that's been done with division in this country.

Yep. He started lying right out of the gate with his claim of the largest inaugural crowd in history. Then finished with a total of more than 20,000 lies including the biggest lie in American history claiming the election was stolen from him. Trump is the biggest liar in the history of the planet.

At this point, getting him away from executive authority, launch codes etc. would be a good thing. (Yes, I know it's not just a matter of pushing a button. Still.)

Yeah, he's a real peach.
Say it again!!

Many may not like his personality, there are things I don't like about him myself. But he wasn't elected to be personable. We elected him to get things done that so many politicians saw as too controversial to take on. To his credit, he stayed the course and was the most honest, committed, and transparent president at least in my lifetime.
Just wow!
